GOTV: How many hours are you willing/able to wait in line to cast your vote?
I'm predicting record turnout and widespread 'unpredictable glitches.'

I'm planning to close my business for the day,(something I just don't do) and will be prepared to wait as long as it takes. However, I know most people don't have this option.

I'm asking this question well in advance....because it's THAT IMPORTANT!:patriot:

2. As long as it takes.
I waited 8 years already, a few more hours is nothing.

5. i don't know if it matters...
have you all read how messed up the voting systems are in some of those states? It's almost a joke...I wonder how many people's votes are just going down the drain. :(

7. I'm voting absentee on Tuesday.
In the event that there are any complicated referendum questions I hate to be rushed.

8. I'm voting with my vote-by-mail ballot.
Edited on Sat Oct-11-08 10:49 PM by backscatter712
I just got it in the mail today!

I intend on turning it in this week.

That makes my anticipated wait time in line slightly above zero.

The Obama campaign has been pushing early voting and mail voting hard - mail-in-ballots are 25% more likely to be cast than conventional ballots - it's far easier to fill out the ballot at home, especially since ballots these days are obnoxiously long. Also, every person we can get early-voting or mail-voting is one less person standing in line on election day.

Oh, and I anticipate that I will be much less likely to encounter a Rethug election challenger by mail-in-voting than I would if I was in line on Election Day.

So on Election Day, I'll be long done with casting my own ballot - I'll be volunteering in the GOTV effort.

9. how many people are in some precincts...?
when i was an election judge in chicago, there were only about 360 people TOTAL in our precinct, so there's no such thing as waiting for "hours" to vote...the longest line i ever saw was maybe 10 people long- and that was not very often at all.

if there are places where people have to wait in very long lines- why don't they have more voting precincts?

10. I'd wait all day if necessary, but in WA we can do mail-in.
