Even the sports guys are making fun of Palin

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2008/10/11/SPP913ENBO.DTL

Scott Ostler:

-- Sarah Palin, what a great idea having her drop the first puck at the Philadelphia Flyers' home opener Saturday. I hear the fans loved it when she chased the Zamboni and tried to bite the tires.

-- Palin was the Flyers' second choice. Their first choice was to have John McCain drop his dentures.

-- Palin is a hockey expert, of course, because she can see Canada from her backyard.

1. Wow - that's harsh!
And, of course, I love it.

Not a whit of respect for either of them. Exactly what they've fostered.

2. Stop it with the ageist comments about McCain's teeth. I thought
DU was a bit more tolerant than that.

18. We're talking hockey.
In hockey, missing teeth is the norm. It's not ageist.

19. Dentures really isn't ageist
I'm 43 (OK, not a kid, but not a senior citizen either) and I have 2 partials. Gotta plop in the the cup of Pepsodent every night!

If anything, I think that is very intolerant of people born with really bad tooth genetics :wow: :wow: :wow:

6. I have no sympathy for Palin ... in 2004-2005, I remember watching a football game
where the lead changed hands several times ...

Of course, the millionaire commentators said that it flip-flopped like John Kerry ...

9. I Was Impressed When After The Game Al Trautwig Called The Publicity Stunt 'Disgraceful'.
I was so glad he said that. He said religion and politics should never enter the sports arena, and that it was a disgraceful move to all hockey fans and the NHL that they had her out there to drop the puck.

10. Making fun of a woman? I'm shocked SHOCKED they're making fun of a woman!
I credit her with knowing a little something about hockey.

Go after her politics.

On what basis are they belittling her hockey knowledge?

11. The fact that she was surprised to get booed in Philly is the first tip off.

12. They'd boo everybody but the Pope.
But their belittling her hockey knowledge is not fair. It's sexist, actually.

God I HATE the Flyers.

Mookie is a Bruins and Caps fan.

13. Oh Christ...it's not sexist.
What makes her an expert in hockey that millions of other parents don't share?

And you seriously don't think the fans and radio people wouldn't have made fun of McCain?

Oy vey, Mookie.

14. I listen to sportstalk a LOT. Women have to prove they know something about sports...
men do not, because they are men.

I'll bet she knows a lot more about hockey than she does about being vice president.

22. Well, I'm not going to argue the sexist nature of sports talk radio.
That's why I don't listen to it. But again, she has no more knowledge of hockey than thousands (I'd say millions but that just got me in trouble :) ) of other parents. Honestly, Palin has nothing special about her when it comes to hockey, and pointing that out isn't sexist. I wouldn't say that about my sister, for instance, who knows hockey as good as I do (she even ran rinks and a league on Cape Cod for awhile). Hell, by that measure my sister should have dropped the damn puck. ;)

15. She Continues To Poison Her Future...
When we look back at this election, two weeks ago will be the turning point. You had Gramps totally fuck up the economic "crisis", but even worse was the week Grandma had...the combination of the Charlie Gibson/Katie Couric interviews and then the dead-on SNL bit with Tina Fey...this babe's reputation is sealed and it's not a pretty one.

Like others, I have no pity for her. This stunt was a big "screw you" to a lot of Democrats out there (especially in Philly) and hopefully she's all but sealed the state for Senator Obama. The good thing is that she's leading a lot of other asshats off the cliff with her.

16. Sarah Palin also drug her kids out there onto the ice with her
thinking they wouldn't boo her with the girls beside her. The whole little drama was one long political stunt under the guise of hockey fun. The crowds in Philly are too smart for such lame antics. And hiding behind her kids, pretending she gives a damn about anyone or anything but her blind ambition is beyond stupid to anyone but the most delusional, rabid Insane McCain and Caribou Barbie supporter. Did you notice all of the Obama/Biden signs behind her? Overall I'd say the first score of the night went to Obama.

Another misstep and outright f*ck up by the gang who can't shoot straight - from a helicopter or otherwise.
