Getting off on executions?
This woman is supposedly a "friend" to a prisoner that I write to, on Texas' Death Row. She has married the prisoner and has a decidedly antagonistic view of anyone else trying to save that prisoner's life. It is very strange. Almost like a Munchausen syndrome by proxy deal. Like she is looking forward to the drama of his execution.

What's wrong with people? Fucking weirdos.

1. Maybe she's afraid of long-term commitment?

7. Well...
You gave us no details except "this woman is probably crazy," so how the heck were we supposed to react?

Your basically asked us "what's wrong with this woman?" and, without providing any information beyond your off-the-cuff diagnosis, I don't know what kind of response you could expect.

The death penalty is murder-by-state, and it's an obsolete abomination. But that's not what your post was about.

6. My understanding is that these women love the idea that nobody understands thier guy but them
If somebody else is advocating for him (especially if that somebody is female) they lose that emotional exclusivity. If his execution is stopped, she loses her status as an emotional martyr to the cause of love AND her special status as the only one who stood by him.

9. You're probably right. It's a strange phenomenon.
She just wrote me an email telling me that this guy has got a chance for clemency. In Texas. She's living in a dream world.

She has no idea that there are innocence projects that help people sentenced to death even when there is no DNA evidence involved. Totally and completely out of touch and VERY antagonistic towards me helping this guy.

It is a very difficult thing, to write to death row inmates. Especially in Texas. I think it's harder to write to this particular one, because he was convicted on circumstantial evidence (and very tenuous evidence, even at that) alone. It is more frightening to me to think that someone who is truly innocent will be put to death, than someone who is at least guilty of the crime they are being executed for. I am very much against the death penalty, under any and all circumstances, but this is really, really horrible. I'm not sure I can do this much longer.

8. In Maryland you're considered a terrorist if you're
against the death penalty.
