1. Howard Dean deserves a lot of recognition for what he has done in the last 4 years.

4. Good question. I suspect not. But the Obama campaign is well funded
thanks to all the supportive donors out there.

It was a wise choice, probably on the advice of Dean not to tie himself down with federal financing. Now he can contest many red and battleground states. I find it simply amazing that he was out knocking on doors in Ohio today - doing his own footwork!

So, I guess what I am saying is that we can give Dean his due, but Obama has run and continues to run a brilliant campaign.

5. The best groundwork in the world wouldn't work if Obama wasn't credible.
So, I would give both men credit for putting these states in play!

6. I've always thought Obama wouldn't be senator if it weren't for
Mayor Harold Washington the first black mayor of Chicago paving the way for acceptance in our state. He went through some horrible racist crap in our city and became one great mayor and earned the trust of many Chicago racists.

7. Short answer,,,, NO
Edited on Sun Oct-12-08 08:32 PM by jaysunb
Obama benefited greatly from his placement on what was then called, "the Dean Dozen." It was his introduction to the emerging internet organizing/fundraising innovation of the Dean campaign and became the foundation of both his Senate and Presidential runs.

When you look back at those that were on that and subsequent list, you'll find an array of elected progressive at every level of government.

Howard Dean will eventually emerge as the most important visionary and effective leader of our times...

9. Dean blazed the trail that Obama followed
Getting him elected DNC chair was the first step to making sure the Dem Prez primaries were run honestly and building up the Dem Party across the country. We still have a ways to go, but the collapse of the Republicans should help the 50 state strategy keep the Dems in power for a long time.

11. I don't know...Considering Obama's success...
in 1993 at his getting out the vote effort, I'm not sure that his success can now be placed at the feet of Howard Dean. I would like to think that anyone's success is dependent on those that went before, but that in no way diminishes any individuals accomplishments.

12. This whole movement....
Edited on Sun Oct-12-08 11:19 PM by ThirdChoice
This whole movement; this whole grassroots effort, the grassroots Internet effort, the take back of the House, and even Obama on the precipice of winning Virginia, North Carolina, and Nevada, are all due to Chairman Howard Dean.

He got me fired up when he ran for POTUS, and after his pullout he told me to roll up my sleeves and not give up. Well, I didn't. We all went to work, on the Internet, running for local offices such as the local Democratic Party Boards and whatnot, and the army has been getting larger and stronger with each month that goes by.

The Dean Army has grown in strength, and we are about to have a landslide victory for Obama, more House seats picked up, and maybe even a majority in the Senate. We are about to Take Back America!

...and it will be sweet.

Howard Dean lost a battle, but he won the war!!!!
