Why is some repuglicon saying “the democrat party”
Instead of “the democratic party” an insult? Is it just disrespectful, or is there some other reason?

3. It's middle schoolish and very disrespectful
and anyone who does it in my presence will hear "the Republic party" in return, just to drive it by him a few times to see how he feels about it.

It's also a great twit indicator. If you hear anyone say it, he's been bought and paid for or he's too damned stupid to know the difference. Shun him.

7. Because they are ignorant and uneducated
They are Republicans, and members of the Republican Party. The opposition are Democrats, therefore they must be members of the Democrat Party.

As I said, they are ignorant and uneducated.

8. They're all doing that, even the little leaguers on local talk shows.

It's in the RW playbook, and they're loyal followers.

On the morning of Nov.5th we can correct them, in language even they can understand.

9. Lee Atwater 101...Demean Your Opponent
The GOOP playbook has been to demonize Democrats and then diminish them. You turn them into "socialists" and then turn the word liberal into a perjorative. The medium is the message and dominating both the language and the dialogue has been a major GOOP game for the past 25 years.

Gingrich was the one who popularized "Democrat" as codeword during his "Contract On America" to demonize any and all opponents using the word that had been long cultivated by hate radio and right wing think tanks into a perjorative among the GOOP and their horde. It was used as full disrepct and had only gained in popularity over the past 14 years.

12. I think it's because
the republicans cannot say the word "DEMOCRATIC" in a sour tone without sounding like they're against democratic principles or democracy in general. They can, however, snarl at the word "Democrat." I think it pains them greatly that our party's name contains such a strong, positive root word/history.

Just my thoughts.

13. They focus grouped both, and "democratic" got more favorable responses
It's just cheap politics.

They were instructed around 1998 to call it the "Democrat Party" based on one of Frank Luntz's focus groups. Their contempt for the voters knows no bounds. They also found that it really pissed off Democrats, largely because it is bone-numbingly stupid to make deliberate grammatical errors based on half-assed marketing surveys. So, because it annoyed Dems, they really started using it everywhere. Like so much else in modern "conservatism," a philosophy which has abandoned any pretense to systematic thought, it is a cheap marketing gimmick, bad sophistry, and without content.

15. Assigning nicknames is a grade-school play for dominance.
You can see it from Joe Six-Pack on up to their president.
