The youth vote is in, and it says Obama will win

Since 1940, student voters have accurately picked all but two presidents

Move over, pundits. Kids across America have got the 2008 presidential election all figured out.

In a poll of a quarter of a million students who are too young to vote, Democratic nominee Barack Obama sailed to victory with 57 percent of the vote while Republican nominee John McCain received 39 percent.

It may be easy to dismiss the poll — orchestrated every four years by Scholastic, a children’s publishing and media company — as mere child’s play. But here’s the uncanny thing about this educational exercise: Since 1940, student voters have accurately chosen all but two presidents.

1. The last time it was wrong was 1960.

2. Then I'm guessing the other election was Truman - Dewey?
They were both very close.

5. Obama by a landslide..
..in my Central Florida class, too. It's about 75% for Obama.

The students have no clue who I support, by the way.

6. This is not surprising
Many American adults think, act, and vote like children. They like the most popular kid, the kid they would most like to have a Juice Box with, but will back the bully if they think the wind is blowing that way.

Some adult Americans vote like junior high school kids. They shy away from the bookish, nerdy types, and get crushes on the best-looking and most popular, especially if that one is not excessively bright.

Others still vote like high school kids. They only support those from their own cliques, but are willing to form a temporary coalition to beat the ones they just so, like, HATE, oh my gawd.
