Please elect Barack Obama. I'm about to lose my job, and
electing Obama and a majority of Democrats is going to be the difference for me between hope and despair. Losing a job right now is so frightening, with even part time and holiday jobs being a tight market. I have confidence that if we win big, our party will make sure workers get the help we need. But if we slack off and let them win or don't come away with a big margin in the Senate and House, those of us in dire straits in this economy will frankly be screwed.

So please don't get complacent. Don't get over confident. Please, for me and others, work your asses off, so if my unemployment pay runs out in a few months, I can at least know that help is on the way.

Please keep working for me and for those who have already been suffering long before I got the news about my job.... especially for them.

I'm so sorry about your job! I understand how stressful that must be.

Please know that others are thinking of you and wishing you all of the best!

11. Thank you.
The saddest part is that I am in Hurricane Ike territory. Thankfully my home is OK, but I would guess that about half the people my employer will be laying off will be folks who had serious damage to deal with. This is just so heartbreaking.

I got to meet Bill Clinton and GHWB today at the Disaster Recovery Center in Galveston (I work in the same building), and then I got this news a couple hours later. I hope their fund will assist a lot of people.

15. I have friends and family who are in "Ike territory" too. They are
safe and their properties had only minor damage, they were fortunate. It is very sad that so many people have lost so much.

Love and light to you and to all the victims of Hurricane Ike.

3. I am so sorry to hear this, hang in there, he is our man!
I am disabled and we live on a fixed income that is much less than it was two years ago. We are at the edge and yet I know that we are not alone so be strong and know there are millions of us out here and our voices will be heard this election and when Obama is our President he will hear our voices and do something about it, I'm sure. We must continue to talk to people and tell them the only way things will change is if they vote for change. Hang in there!

4. Not to worry
Obama is doing great! The polls are looking better every day, lots of us are out there volunteering. He will tax those fat cats making $250,000 or more and for sure that will help you get a new job. People like you deserve all the help you can get.

6. You don't sound sincere.....
Edited on Tue Oct-14-08 11:06 PM by Lisa0825
I hope I am wrong, but you sound like you are mocking.

I started looking for a new job the moment I realized mine was n jeopardy, but it is generally Republicans who vote against extending UI benefits, and in a tight economy like this, I have no unrealistic notions about getting a new job immediately.

I apologize if I have misinterpreted your response. But if I was correct, you are a cruel and heartless person.

edited to clarify: I apologize again if I misunderstood... I am oversensitive right now. It was the remark about taxing fat cats and making sure I get a job.... I know getting a job is up to me, but the job market is very dependent upon the economy, so THAT is where the govt can be an influence. And it isn't just about "taxing fat cats." That's easy to say on a poster or as a sound bite, but we all know it is more complicated than that and it is about making sure everyone pays their fair share and those with the least don't get hit the hardest.

Again, if I was wrong about your intentions, I sincerely apologize.

7. Hang in there, Lisa.
My job (as well as many others) are hanging by a thread, as well. We need "hope and change" and I believe we're going to get it.

14. Oh Lisa, I'm sorry...
Things are looking good though...and I'm still fighting, and I know most of us are.

Try not to fall into any pits, emotionally. Easier said than done, I know. Do you have a good support structure IRL? Lean on them, that's what our little tribes are for!

Let us know how you're doing, okay?

16. Keep hope, Lisa.
I've been laid off twice this year, so I know how you feel, and I'm hanging by a thread now too. It's scarey. I did hear that Congress intends to pass an extension of unemployment benefits right after the election, and also to stop taxing them at least for the near future.

I agree with you, Obama winning really matters personally to so many of us. I hope you find something right away.
