I want to start talking about the post 10/3 world
I've been hammered over the head with the "in the post-9/11 world" meme to justify ever destruction of civil liberties, military aggression, tax break for the wealthy, and cut to social services under the sun for seven years.

I'd like to start talking about the post 10/3 world.

10/3 - the day the 700 billion dollar bailout became law.

In the post-10/3 world, its no longer possible to talk about "free market" capitalism as part of "mainstream" political dialogue in the United States. If you attempt to talk about "free markets" as an excuse for not helping poor people or regulating businesses you'll be laughed at for living in a "pre-10/3 world."

It's not possible to pretend that Republican governance is about small government, or less government intervention in a post-10/3 world.

In a post-10/3 world, the meme that deregulation is the key to prosperity and economic health is no longer in touch with reality.

In a post-10/3 world, the United States embraces socialism. The government buying a national controlling interests in banks is more "socialist" than anything the government has ever done before that right-wingers labeled with that term.

In a post-10/3 world, transfers of wealth are completely acceptable, and in fact argued to be totally necessary. Granted, recent transfers have been upward, transferring money form the working class to the upper class. But in a post-10/3 world, no one can simply say that they oppose x person or x party because they support "a redistribution of wealth." That's become acceptable now.

Maybe you can think of some more things.... :)

By officially stationing a combat brigade of the Army in the states for policing the public.

2. When Bryan's was talking about the "Cross of Gold" I don't think
he meant the trickle-up theory should apply to banking institutions. I'm curious to see how long this lasts. Other countries have done it with great success but for someone reason the U.S. seems to always run away from great successes rather than embrace them. My guess is that in 8 years we'll start to hear about de-regulations all over again.
