I just moved in Sept, so I went ahead and did a change of adress and re-register online ... Just got my actual sample ballot and where to vote info in the mail on Saturday...
Went to the PO Box today, and there is a mailer from the "League of Conservation Voters Education Fund" that encourages me to fill out their form and vote by mail, avoid the lines, don't miss work, etc...it looks like just a request for an absentee ballot... but isn't there a deadline for that? Don't you have to have a good reason to request one? Why are they promoting this, to get people to "think" they have taken care of it, and therefore the vote will not be counted?
I registered as a Democrat, and live in a pretty red county in CA - we have a senate seat up fo grabs too...nasty fight, the incumbent Repuke has been on the take and had more than one scandal and is pretending he is still a viable candidate. My rural area is more dem, but the foothills of the county are bright red, richies in their mcmansions from the scaramento sprawl...
anyone got any take on this? Should I report this and write a story for the Local paper to get the word out..? ( If I can find good leads to prove this is a scam, I do stories for the Tribune on a regular basis, I know they would love for me to have some hard news.)
EDIT: oKAY, Got to breathe - I am a little paranoid of voter stuff - I looked up their website and they are pro-Obama, and seem legit and very eco conscious... But I am still going to call them and ask about the mailer and if this is a good idea ...and could it screw up the votes...? etc...
