Poll question: GOP False Choice Poll: Social Security or unlimited war.
Edited on Wed Oct-15-08 02:05 PM by ColbertWatcher
Just like they did with offshore drilling, the GOP has mouth pieces on the teevee are presenting the TV-information voters a false choice in regards to the debt and bailout plan.

First of all, they're equating the debt with the bailout plan, trying to imply that there was no debt until the bailout plan, which as everyone knows is not true; the GOP has increased America's debt since blowing through the Clinton surplus.

Secondly, the GOP controlled-media is pushing this idea that the biggest problem with America's debt is Social Security. Once again, everyone knows that the biggest portion of America's budget is not Social Security, but the Defense Department. In addition to what is reported in the books, there are so many "defense" projects not reported, but that are still paid for! 7-8 years of unregulated no-bid, no-competition contracts exploited for the benefit of GOP donors has done more to keep us in debt than the so-called run-away Social Security "entitlement programs" the GOP mouthpieces could in Milton Friedman's worst socialist wet dream.

So, let's play the GOP's game of false choices: which would you rather fund: Social Security or unlimited war?

(ADENDUMB: I realize I made a mistake after posting this poll (like that never happens). The GOP's false choice is actually between funding Social Security and keeping it a government program and saving the stock market from crashing and ruining America forever. Please excuse my naiveté--the GOP never mentions unlimited war when they discuss the debt.)
