Is it true that an email with a "picture" of "hanged" bin laden is fatally viral?

Just got a warning, supposedly verified by SNOPES that opening such a picture would crash a computer.

1. Good idea not to open ANY emails with pictures like that

I make it a point not to open any emails that have subject lines like "PICS OF BIN LADEN HANGED, SEE NOW!" regardless of who they're from.

There was a trojan horse, but all anti-virus programs have been updated to account for it. Snopes reported in 2006 that the virus no longer posed a threat, since it doesn't really circulate and is easily detected.

So, do three things:

DO NOT send this to everyone in your address book.

Make sure you have up-to-date anti-virus software

Do what the others have said and don't open attachments you're not expecting.

Das Bigen Laiden, which incidentally requires you to be hung in both meanings of the word. I don't recommend it: my neck hurt for a week.
