Fiancee just got postcard saying her voter registration is "inactive"
Live in Olympia, WA. Just got this card that says they have "received information" that she no longer lives here, and so is not going to get a ballot unless she replies saying she does. When I look online to check on registration status, it says she's "inactive", and on there says this means you need to update your address, and do it more than 30 days before an election. But we just got this card, and the address is right - she's lived here for years and voted every time. Think its safe to just return the card in the affirmative and hope for the best? And where did they get this so-called information anyway... sounds suspicious to me.

4. I'd visit my Secretary of State, like tomorrow, and demand an explanation.
I've never had to re-register to vote once I establised residency. This is odd.

7. Have her visit the county clerk's office in person to get the matter fixed.
There is time, she'll just have to get on the ball.

8. Check your status here:
http://www.voteforchange.com

If you're past your state's deadline, contact your county elections office. You might have to appear in person.

9. No way!!
Call your voter registration office and give them the information. They should be able to take care of it.

10. get in touch with your local election commission ASAP--same thing happened to my husband
No postcard, but he checked on it and he had been dropped from the voter database, even though voted in this precinct for 15 years.

Also, there was a deadline of October 6 to get re-registered, which required a change in his social security documents--His birth certificate says "Lauren" but social security had him as "Larry" so he got booted here in Denver.

It might be too late for your fiancee--that's an outrage!
