Joe the plumber will be making more money. He should pay his fair share.
When he was an employee, he didn't make as much money.

As the owner of a business, he will be making more.

Joe the plumber needs to pay his fair share.

It's the same thing as if Joe was given a raise to where he was making more than $250k.

5. Joe the plumber's business would pay taxes on net profit and employer portion of taxes for employees
Joe the person would pay taxes on wages received which would not be the total revenue.

8. I agree... Joe should pay his fair share.... but I wonder...
...what makes Joe think he'll be making $250k in his first startup years? It seems to me that Barack's tax plan will help Joe throughout his startup years more than McCain's ever would....

he will be over 250K now. He's probably a lousy plumber too. Maybe he was one of Nixon's plumbers....

17. Well, the Truthiness Encyclopedia offers you a chance to write your own ...
... info about our newest "instant media star" Joe The Plumber Wurzelbacher, no relation to Nixon plumbers, in case you're wondering.

So, register (it's free) and post everything you know about this October surprise.

16. When oh when will somebody say:
People do not go into business based on how much tax they will have to pay. If you have profits and have to pay taxes you're doing well. It's a good problem.

For f*ck sake!

19. Hahaha, but seriously...
If he had some extra dough in his pocket certainly he would hire even more plumbers, regardless of demand... right?

I mean, he wouldn't just keep that money and buy himself a new flatscreen TV would he?

20. What Joe needs is a good accountant.
Edited on Thu Oct-16-08 03:01 AM by TexasObserver
Joe should stick to plumbing, and let an accountant tell him how much his taxes are.

If this guy Joe thinks his income is going to be over $250,000 in a small business, he's not doing a very good job of documenting and taking his legitimate deductions, and not getting tax credits to which he is probably entitled. It's not gross revenues that makes one come under Obama's tax plan. That's gross receipts, not income.
