Adler Planetarium - Part II
In the second debate, I was willing to write it off as just ignorance but there's certainly no longer any excuse for him to continue to refer to the Adler Planetarium as an "overhead projector." By the way, that $3M request was sponsored by Obama, Senator Richard Durbin, and six Chicago area congressmen, three of whom are Republicans.

vs.

The only reason for him to continue with that characterization is to sway the uninformed. McCain is lying and he knows it.

1. I just about fell off the sofa when he came out with that one AGAIN tonight...
...and then sat back with that self-satisfied little smirk as though he'd gotten off a real zinger!

Hasn't anyone on his campaign staff told him how thoroughly that one was trashed after the LAST debate?

sad.

really sad.

wearily,
Bright

3. I wish Obama would have pushed back on this bullshit 'issue'.

Tied it into how important education and science are to keep this country competitive, or something along those lines. He did it later in the debate, but I just wanted him to level McCain for bringing up that phucking 'overhead projector' again.

Statement from Adler, in case anyone missed it the first go-round:

4. You know one is short of material
when you have to dig up the same example twice.

Oh - and Republicans just hate science education.

9. Give the overhead projector to Joe the Plumber
Maybe he can do something with it - sell it for parts or something - and he can buy that business.

11. it reflects his disdain of science
and his whole disconnect with what is (and is NOT) important . He praised charter schools and vouchers because he is so concerned about education , and then he dissed the projector that is essential to the planetarium that is an irreplacable tool of education for us ALL . That planetarium is awesome!

12. I was surprised this came up also.
Much of his strategy has been tone deaf however... esp his debate performances.

13. McCain must have failed celestial navigation at the US Naval Academy.
It must have been a required course. It was a required course in Naval ROTC through the mid-1960s.

McCain must still have a hard-on for Sirius and Betelgeuse, else he would be enthusiastic about the type of celestial education that the Adler offers.

However, when one is a flat-earther, I guess the algorithms of celestial navigation are washed over the edge .. so to speak.

It's hard to see, but the dorsal bubble behind the cockpit of this Lockheed P2V-7 Neptune is for navigation the old-fashioned way .. "shooting the stars" (celestial navigation).
