It was on CSpan about 8:50 pm last night when the debate organizers were laying out the rules, congratulating sponsors, etc. before any of the cable or network channels started airing.

At one point, a guy from the debate commission was introducing some of the noted attendees. Can't remember everyone he called out, but Caroline Kennedy was there and then he said Senator Jack Danforth was there and the camera cut to him in the crowd and he got up and ran out.

It was just weird..........not really important, just wanted to see if anyone else saw this???

1. I didn't see it. Maybe he got a new tip on ACORN or some other
bullshit distraction. I hope he's sorry he decided to mess with this.

3. Didn't Danforth say he wanted an investigation or was asking
to lead an investigation over allegations about ACORN? Maybe I got the story wrong.

4. You are completely right
and now I'm even more weirded out by what I saw last night. When the guy said his name and they cut to him in the audience he literally leapt out of his chair and RAN out the back door.

Why didn't he want to be seen there?? According to this NPR article he is officially part of the McCain campaign, but he's also an ordained minister, and maybe he doesn't like what he has been seeing at the rallies and such???

Anyway, the link to the article is below. That's why I love DU, you can notice something random, post it, and then find out a whole wealth of information. You're instincts were indeed correct!

Critics said that ACORN is part of an effort to steal votes and possibly throw the outcome of the election into doubt. Former Missouri Sen. John Danforth co-chairs the McCain campaign's Honest and Open Election Committee, and he said whoever loses on Nov. 4 could feel cheated and want to challenge the results in court.

"If there are a number of states where the election is close and there have been many, many people registered by this organization, ACORN, and where there are numerous cases of fraudulent registration, then the contest could go on for a very long time," he said.

5. Thanks for that link. I've been sick with a respiratory ailment
for the last two weeks, and I couldn't remember for what I'd read or written as recently as yesterday.
