Ohio Secretary Of State Will Fight Republican Challenge
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/10/16/exclusive-ohio-secretary_n_135269.html

Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner told the Huffington Post on Thursday that she is ready not only to fight the state's current election law battle in front of the Supreme Court, but is also willing to wage a new fight, if necessary, to make sure hundreds of thousands of new voters are not "forced" onto provisional ballots on election day.

Spurred by revelations that the community organizing group ACORN has submitted many thousands of ineligible voter registration cards in battleground states, Ohio Republicans have been calling for a wholesale comparison of the state's nearly 666,000 new active voters against data collected by the local DMV.

1. Because the DMV is always right...
...and if something on a voter registration form can't be confirmed by the DMV, then that person shouldn't be allowed to vote.

(sarcasm)

3. Wouldn't the burdon of proof be on the State instead of the individual?
If a person has a middle initial on the Driver's license but not on their voter registration card wouldn't it be on the State to prove they are different people and not on the individual? Why the guilty before proved innocent attitude? IMO it would be much better to err on the side of the voter until proved beyond any doubt that the person does not exist..

4. In this day and age of identity theft, I purposely use my middle
and first names in different ways at different times. There is no law requiring a person to use a first name or to always sign his or her name the same way. At least not in California -- provided you are not trying to perpetrate fraud.

This is the police state to the extreme.

Think of "Joe" the Plumber or "Jack" Kennedy. What about "Megs" and "Beths" and folks named McGee (or McCain) who call themselves Mack. What about people who have nicknames that they really use? Somebody named Winona who goes by Happy, or somebody named Ricardo who goes by Rick? Are these Republicans out of their minds?

Is a woman required to re-register to vote if she get married and takes her husband's name? I'll bet a lot of women think to do that, but some don't.

You would be surprised at the number of people who keep going back to their old polling place in their old neighborhood to vote just out of nostalgia and because they don't know better. I try to advise my friends not to do that, but they get very offended when I say something.
