Lets face it, how difficult would it be for the Republicans to have
had some data entry people go through a data base in the Government and change just slightly the names of hundreds of thousands of Democratic, hispanic, black, etc. Then pass a law that says that all voter rolls have to be compared to that doctored list.
It would be very simple. What a great plan, fix some database with small almost undetectable errors then use those "errors" that they have made a reason to kick registered voters off the voter rolls.

I don't know if they did that but knowing how the Republican advisers work it would seem reasonable to me. To know the result before the race is a good way of retaining power and since the neocons say that once they have power they will not easily give it up. And if they can prevent themselves from loosing power by fooling the "ignorant masses" they can joke at their after election celebrations about how stupid the Americans truly are.

2. Somebody would notice, unless these databases are exclusively limited to Republicans.

Some Democrats would immediately cry foul and demand those databases be re-opened.

However, national elections are done at the state level. The databases would necessarily be state-run affairs. There would be 50 databases then each run by the states, and they would be run according to each state's laws regarding elections. Remember that in the US we use a federal system with a state-level government between the federal government and the local-level government.

To engineer such a task would require a big enough group of people that somebody would notice bad things were happening.

People noticed irregularities in Ohio and Florida, for example. Why wouldn't they notice irregularities in this case?

4. They Need Access To State Lists
Many of the states involved in caging are focusing on Drivers Licenses and other records that are in state and local databases. Their scheme is simpler than hacking, and if backed up by a court, far more effective...all they're looking for is a simple discrepency...any discrepency. Say you're middle initial is M, but somehow on your voters registration it turns up H...they'll contest.

Voter suppression is at work right now...it's not as overt as manipulating records but also to intimidate people from even showing up at the polls. I'm sure there are those who registered with ACORN are thinking twice about voting...and I expect even more games to be played to scare voters...especially minorities...from the polls. Here's hoping the Obama campaign is on top of these games and find ways to get these people to the polls...no need to fear.

5. I think that the Democrats
are going to win by such a huge margin, anything the dishonest repubs tried would fail. I predict a huge embarrassment for the repubs come election day.

7. Wow, since the Republicans were saying that they were going to
use the Social Security information databases I assumed they were in the hands of the Federal Government rather than the States.
I guess you learn something new everyday.

8. Don't know if this has been said...
But there are two factors that will change the election:

1) voter turnout
2) voter suppression
