Thank You, Matt Drudge (race now 2 points)
Matt Drudge had a banner headline "Shock: Gallup has race 49-47".

I know, that's some screwy "traditional" model that discounts young voters, since anyone who is less that 21 years old has no history of voting in presidential elections. It also doesn't take into account that African-Americans or other minorities will vote at a far greater rate than they have "traditionally".

Why I'm thanking Mr. Drudge is that the Obama campaign's greatest enemy now is complacency. We can't have our supporters thinking this thing is over. We can't have our troops holding back and being overconfident.

Matt Drudge has done for the Obama campaign what it is trying to do itself, keep the troops fired up. I have felt all along that with an African American candidate for President, we Democrats have to fight for every vote and never, ever, ever take this thing for granted. Are you kidding me. I'm out in the field (albeit, working the toughest demographic, White, blue collar voters, over 45 years old, with less than a college education). I love my work. It's based on union to union contact and long conversations about knowing which side of the bread our butter is on. The last thing I want is our strongest Demographics to feel that this is over.

Thank you Matt, you have convinced us that we have to keep on working as hard as we can, right up to election day.

1. Cuts both ways. A lot of the far RW will probably stay...
... home ( under a rock?) if they think it's unwinnable. They're not wild about McCain to begin with and some of the new-car shine has come off of Pallor, I mean Palin.

2. I'm more worried about our vote coming out.............

than their's staying home. "They" traditionally vote, ours has a tendency to not vote. We have to keep ours fired up until election day. Anyone on their side that doesn't vote is because McCain just doesn't suit them, not because of the perceived outcome (IMHO).

3. Who's complacent?
I haven't met anyone, political pro or greenest novice volunteer who's complacent about this election. Everyone is working with a will and with purpose, very optimistic about what's going to happen in November, and gratified that all the hard work will actually have a payoff this time.

5. It's not the workers who are complacent........
It's the casual voter. The one who doesn't want to be bothered standing in line for two hours, especially if they think "It's in the bag". They are the ones who need to realize EVERY VOTE WILL MATTER.

6. That's what I mean
We have to keep out voters involved so that they don't just stay home because it doesn't matter. It DOES matter.

4. I am still worried about the machines being hacked
so I was wondering if they'd try and suggest the race was close to make it less shocking if they cheat.

I am going to have ulcers until Florida and Ohio are counted. Am I the only one more nervous than ever?
