The RNC is Stoking the Fires of Chaos - Obama Will Likely Inherit a Scorched Earth...
Edited on Sat Oct-18-08 07:57 AM by Indi Guy
The RNC knows it's going to lose this time (after predicting a permanent Republican rule in 2000).

All bets being off now, the Republican National Committee is united in making sure that Obama is slandered by the very worst elements of our society.

The very worst in our society is now being nurtured (as before) by the elite in the RNC. These fake patriots will make it as difficult as imaginable for Barack to function if he takes office. These sleaze-balls who propped up Bush for 8 years are perfectly ready & willing to sabotage Obama.

In the name of America -- they're willing to destroy her, by way of immoral division.

2. What doesn't make sense is that the RNC would NEVER want to have a beer with these people!
They just want them to do their dirty work. The Kings and the unwashed Serfs! How utterly sad!

18. You don't understand. Soaking one's brain in alcohol makes it easier to tolerate the company of ...
... such idiots and bigots. It's about downing a few beers just to make it tolerable to be around them.

4. Thats why we will have to work harder and become even more organized
in order to combat these forces. If you thought Clinton went thru hell just wait for the BS thats coming. However the Clinton years gave us some perspective on how to fight, and I'm sure Democrats as well as Independents along with a few Republicans will take them on.

9. Hitler was so pissed off because he couldn't "WIN" that he let his
country go up in flames...

The GOP is so pissed off because they think they might not "WIN" that they are willing to start a race war in America...they have already destroyed the economy and the military...they torture people and hide the truth from the public.

7. Yep...They're "Retrenching" Their Position
I see a couple games at play here. First, there are the booooshies, who are scurrying to cover their tracks and make their final fleeces. The financial "crisis" was a reponse to this sector seeing that Gramps stood a good chance of losing and wanted to cash in before rather than after the elections.

Next, there's the Gramps campaign that never was a favorite for a majority of the GOOP...especially the far right. He won the nomination by default and knows that without the solid support of the lunatics and wingnuts, he doesn't stand a chance to win. He sold his soul to Rove and Schmidt and this campaign is in their hands. The only way for him to keep his "solid" support is to throw lots of red meat and diversions. It's playing up to every fear imaginable, and several that they've just made up. It's unleashing fear and intolerance as a means to prop up their lagging support and supress and depress Democrats.

Lastly, there's the "end game"...if Obama wins, what kind of win he'll have. If they're not gonna win, they're gonna muddy things up just like they did with Clinton...or so they hope. It's to create a lot of divisions and distrust and set up a "resistance"...or obstructionism just like the "good old days" of the 90's. One difference...in the 90's, the GOOP and Gingrich were on the rise...this election is a repudiation on not just the GOOP but the far right...they'll be working with a smaller number and completely out of any real power. I suspect we'll hear a lot about a "all-librul/socialist" government and the fears that full Democratic control will be the doom of all of us.

This is definitely a desperate last-gasp by a party that created its own problems...in rife with corruption and faces some serious problems of its own. The boooosh years will long be seen as a total failure...on all fronts. The GOOP ideologies they could throw around and win elections aren't working anymore...the bench is empty, the ideas are bankrupt.

I expect a lot of fun in the wake of the elections as the knives come out (we're already seeing them) as to "who lost the election". A lot of this scortched earth is a vain attempt to gain some ground for what is about to happen....or so we hope. The blame game will be fun to watch.

...on the bright side however -- maybe the American people will finally see the abject villainy of the RNC in the process.

One can hope.

10. We're In Better Shape Now Than We Were
No sooner does a caging scheme come to light or a robo-call go out, there are blogs like TalkingPoints Memo and Think Progress that are spreading the word...there's a lot more visibility to these scams now than before and those who are playing them haven't realized this yet. I think they went to the well one time too many and the political landscape has changed, they won't realize it until they're solidly defeated.

The more the repugnicans get desperate, the more reckless they get, the more their tactics are backfiring. Camp Gramps has been one of the most inept campaigns ever and in the process it's unraveling both the party and the machine that pushes it.

I share you hopes and I see this election in a far better light than what we had to deal with in 2004 and even '06.

Cheers...

13. I share the optimism, however...
...it's fairly forboding that both McCain & Palin have been willingly recruited to purvey the RNC toxins that enrage the GOP base (and I do mean "base").

I mean, everyone knows that B Hussain O is one scary character...

14. You Have Very Good Reasons To Feel So...
The wingnuts won't go down quietly...Rushbo won't vanish and the divisions that have been ripped open during this election will take a while to heal, but if Senator Obama is elected, I see it as a big step forward as I never thought I'd ever see a viable black or woman candidate in my lifetime. We have come a long way...or at least most of us have.

The right wing will be trouble...no question...and thus the reason they need to be beaten soundly in November. The "base" base has been cranked up to high and the fall will be hard and loud. The Obama is a Muslim and terrorist crap won't go away...it'll be alive and well in Freeperland...but the bottom line is results. If Senator Obama is able to stabilize the economy and follow through on some, if not all, of his proposals, are successful, the right wing and repugnicans will be relegated to minority status for many years to come.

We must be very vigilant...but also not to fear...and use the opportunity at hand to the max.

Cheers.

19. On the right, there's a thin line between "energizing the base" and "forming a lynch mob."
Sometimes the line doesn't exist at all.

12. I'll go further and say they have picked a point of no return, and once they
were past it, they couldn't turn back the decay, economically and socially.

I think this ensures the new president, likely Obama, gets labeled "Hoover redux", and has a very difficult time. The conservative money and focus will shift right over to a end-of-Clinton's-second-term vitriol that will assuredly be scorched earth, but with 50% of the population pissed about losing and more than willing to take over the call. Conservatives secretly wish for an Obama win, as then you will really see the bumper stickers, emails, and overt animosity we all claim we are not seeing now.

Interesting times.

15. I think that the Retro Roosevelt tag will hold
And that we are lucky that the stars aligned as they have. Basically, I haven't seen anybody more qualified to steer the ship of state in these times. Our stature in the world is greatly dependent on how the world,s financial systems are re-engineered in the next year or so - and we need people runnin' the show that are smart enough to not fuck up our main chance.
I hope that there are enough fire-d up Obamites to take care of marginalizing the bitterness and prejudice at the brush-fire level. Make the haters show themselves for what they are, and make 'em pay for it. Let Obama and the Whole New Hope Band do what they do best - taking the high road, and doing the right thing the right way.

26. Ideally, that would be the case, however...
...the tipping point where the politics of extreme division topples all reason appears to be close at hand, if not already reached.

This fire has been stoked for a long time & the winds of change are fanning it, in unison with the efforts of the morally bankrupt extreme right wing players.

I only hope that there will be something left to salvage after the transfer of power.

16. One can only imagine what shall take place between now and 10/29....
when he delivers his primetime address.

That may be the most important speech of OUR lifetime...forget the most important of his political career...but given the racism/fascism manifesting in plain site (which I prefer over hidden), leading to extraordinarily dangerous times, most especially for all who are Obama supporters and obviously for our country in general, his words that evening could be some sort of lifeline for this country. If we can just hold on....

Yeah -- I know that it was our bombs that kind of blew it up, but it was the Nazi policies that brought it down on them.

The end of time crowd thought Junior was their prophet and Messiah. The Millennium was upon us and their time had come, or so they thought. Their chosen one turned out to be a flaming bag of dog shit on America's, and the World's doorstep. Here we are, nearly eight years into the Hundred-Year Reich....

Had enough yet?
