Aaaaah... That Felt Good. Oh, Yeah, I Needed That. (With PHOTOS)

I've needed to do that for four years now!

Early One-Stop Voting in North Carolina. Yesterday, I went to town hall and voted for the Democratic Obama/Biden ticket for President of the United States, my one-person-one-vote contribution to returning sanity to this country after eight - EIGHT! - years of stupidity, insanity, and attacks on the Constitution, the Republic and the citizens of this country and the innocent citizens of other countries, attacks on open government, on science, on rationality and on compassion.

I voted straight Democratic Party ticket (or is that the "Democrat Party?" Gee what happened to that petty Republican gimmick?).

Before I voted I stopped off at the Raeford, North Carolina campaign headquarters on Main Street in this small town in North Carolina (is it a "Pro-American area" or "Un-American" area? I have no idea) and took some photos of the great displays that volunteers had put up. I've also got some photos from a visit to the Fayetteville headquarters from the day before. Enjoy the photos and, if you have yet to do so, enjoy the great pleasure and relief of voting Republicans out of power. (I shoved mine into an ES&S machine, fingers crossed.)

And, yes, I'm going to try to get to the rally on Sunday and take pictures.

Get out the vote, avoid complacency, keep on guard and see you at the inauguration.

3. What a post.
You said it all in one little paragraph. It does my heart good to see that. Like what used to be frightening talk is now just open conversation. Full steam ahead.

Thanks so much for everything.

I grew up in San Francisco. Did the whole Haight Street thing, Altamont, etc. Then ended up spending about a year in Charlotte in 1980. What a culture shock! Saw ads in the Charlotte Observer "House for rent, white only" In 1980? registered to vote and was asked as part of the registration process if I believed in Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior? I'm an atheist but I told them what they wanted to hear cause I really don't give a shit about their process as long as my ends get met.

Thankfully, I moved back to Commie, Pinko, atheist land after a year and am recovering from the mental stress of
Jesus Land"

Sounds like some sunshine and enlightenment is moving into N.C.

Great Bass fishing though. Caught a 10# Large Mouth in a water trap in Raintree. Let it go cause it deserved to live and Bass isn't all that good eating but you folks FRY ICE CREAM! How can you do that?

Didn't get a decent meal until I got to Nashville.

7. Still plenty of Bible Belt here. There's McCain/Palin signs up and down my road.
The State Fair had fried macaroni & cheese on a stick this year. Last year the big treat was fried Snickers.

13. Actually, I think I may have made up the part about 'on a stick'
although, I imagine if you fry it in a pretty thick batter, it would work.

9. did you remember to, or have to
designate a single presidential vote, and then straight Dem?

i know some of the NC ballots don't include Pres in straight ticket...

i know our county has the 2 option ticket, did yours?

10. Had to vote presidential separately.
Then straight ticket for everything else, excepting judges and a few other county offices.

11. BEAUTIFUL, Hissyspit!! I wasn't planning on going to the Fayetteville rally tomorrow
but I'm starting to consider driving down from Chapel Hill. I was stationed at Bragg in 67 and 68, so I'm thinking I'll wear my Vietnam Vets Against the War hat and head south.

That's very impressive that Obama has a strong presence in Raeford. Lots of Original Americans there, who I image support him.

Still, rural North Carolina has an awful lot of McCain/Palin signs sprouting up. It's going to be a tight race here.

I voted for Barack yesterday. Made me very happy. My 76 year-old mother-in-law and father-in-law are sending in their absentee ballots tomorrow. Both are voting for Barack. Both voted for Bush in '00 and '04. Makes my heart warm to think about it.

Keep up the good work!!

17. My MIL
lives in Fay. A Bush 41 but not 43 supporter, she says "Obama's got it" (at least nationally). When you hear that from around Ft Bragg, you can take it to the bank or smoke it or whatever.

The biggest divide in NC as in similar states is rural vs urban. Rural people are so brainwashed by reichwing radio and preachers.
