What gets me is why anyone would be proud of being a called a "dittohead"...
What they are basically buying into when proudly proclaiming their "dittoheadness" is the complete inability to act and think on their own. They think exactly like their leader, Rush Limbaugh, and so have ceded the ability to reason out a position on any issue at anytime...

And this, my friends, is what makes the far far right dangerous. They are willing to obey on command. They buy into the whole hoary idea of Lock step obedience to a charismatic leader.

It also makes them easy to take down once they really look in the mirror and see themselves for what they are.

On the other hand, the unwillingness of those on the left to buy everything part and parcel from our leaders is both infuriating and invigorating. New ideas are fostered and given a chance to either blossom or wither on the vine.

It's why I enjoy the left. We can actually reason for ourselves. It's also explains why our primary campaign dragged on so long and the GOP's campaign was over so early.

Remember, the last knock down frag out primary the GOP had was in 1976. This was the year Reagan challenged Ford. Even though he lost, he stayed in it till the end. In the end, they chose their generation changing leader.

Here is hope we have picked ourselves a better, more charismatic, more intelligent leader to take us through the trials and tribulations we face at the dawning of the new century. Let us believe, if only for a moment, that that bright shiny city on the Hill that Reagan always saw off in his distant vision is about to be overrun by bright and shiney people and not the narrow minded bigots that the GOP brought to doors of that city.

Let's let that city shine, brothers and sisters, let's let that city shine and sparkle for all to see, for all to feel, for all to believe in.

It's a brand new day, a brand new century and we are handed a brand new responsibility to ourselves, our country and our world...

1. How a mid-afternoon show can have so many listeners baffles me.

2. well all the ones who blame others
for their being unemployed as opposed to their taking responsibility for their own actions need to take a break from beating their family/neighbors and drop a few Oxy's and have a few dozen more beers with their "role model" every once in a while...

3. It's their team. It's a term formed by analogy....
...from the Cheeseheads, the hard-core Green Bay Packer fans.

Tribalism is never far below the surface of politics, and American prosperity and luck, and perhaps American laziness, not American virtue, has kept us so far from our own private Bosinas and Rwandas.
