Man, some people are just born stupid
I met a dude last night who said he supports McCain cause he wants things to get as bad as possible so we can then "rebuild" society. I just looked at him and said, "Did you get three meals today?" I don't think he got it. I find people with ideas like that usually are young, live at home, and have likely no idea what its like to be poor. They're also the kind of people nothing ever happens to, so they don't get the concept that all of this IS real and people ARE already being effected.

Man, I can't stand Poli-sci students

2. That guy is NOT stupid.
Greedy and evil yes, but not stupid. I bet you that fully understands what he's saying is "bad as possible so we can rebuild society". His idea is a mass die off. So yeah, he's a jerk , but I bet you the guy knows exactly what he's wishing for.

3. I doubt he does
Most people wouldn't advocate for it if they truly knew they could end up in a ditch.

9. He's stupid because he thinks he's one who will survive
and we all know the stupid tend to die off quickly along with the old, the young, and the sick.

The only response to such people is "You first," because that's what is likeliest to happen in any disaster.

He knows what he's wishing for but he's far too stupid to realize the consequences for himself.

5. He needs to travel
There are plenty of places where things ARE as bad as possible: Moldova, North Korea, Somalia, Zimbabwe, etc. Maybe you should take up a collection and send him to one of those places.

11. Next time....
call me.

I am on the Left Coast and I stay up almost all night (the guitar is a dangerous thing, coupled with the usual intoxicants).

10. I've heard that sort of thing before, and...
it's dangerously naive.

Aside from the obvious problems with that line of thought, how does he know that what is rebuilt will be any better than what we have? Or is it just worth a shot to hope for the best?

In his researches into whatever it is that poli-sci students study, has he noticed that the destruction of the present degenerate system is an important part of Marxist revolutionary theory?
