Tin foil hat view of Powell coming out for Obama...
Obama has inspired a new generation. That generation needs to be harnessed by the imperial war wizards. The imperialists are hitching their wagon to Obama shunning the older, McCain style of world domination...

No, I'm not paranoid.

2. It's not paranoia if you see the same streetwalkers working the same corner.
Sure, the establishment is negotiating with Obama. That's what happens.

4. That is ridiculous. Remember, Powell was AGAINST the war
until Bush/Cheney fooled him just like they fooled Congress. He was AGAINST Rumsfeld's tactics. There's a reason Bush accepted his resignation: Powell wasn't just a "yes man". Powell tried his best to be an advisor. Bush/Cheney just refused to listen to him.

If you watched him on MTP, he praised Obama's willingness to talk to our enemies, and said that's what is needed.

Powell was a victim of Bushco just as much as the rest of us were.

10. I don't think he was fooled --- he just let his attachment for the military override his judgement
Which is why senior officers from the military should never be elected to high office.

But it is good to have his endorsement.

11. You are being far too nice, and it does you credit. BUT
Anybody with half a brain could see that whole run up to the Iraz invasion was bullshit. Powell knew it was bullshit when he gave that speech at the UN.

He knew, and he went along with it. That should never be forgotten. And now he's blaming the intelligence. Passing the buck, on top of everything else. Fuck him.

And let's not forget the further consolidation of the media by his son.

14. If Powell was so much against this occupation
Then where the hell has he been all this time. He has had almost 2 years to jump on the bandwagon. All he did today was put on a suit and sit in front of the camera and force out a prepared rant of half ass garbage.

He was certainly there front and center when the time came to lie us into the war and ramp up the already inflamed fear a few more notches.

15. Powell's whole career has been sucking up to get ahead.
Like anyone who values position and prestige over character and ethics, Powell will do what serves him best. Right now, it's a full court press to repair his legacy and reputation, a reputation that was mostly contrived anyway. But, there are a lot of people who look at him with awe and respect and continue to, willingly, give him the benefit of the doubt, though they should know better.

9. Maybe it is...
But Colin Powell is no peace loving liberal. Obama wants to re-invade Afghanistan and Zbignew Brezinski is a close adviser to Obama in matters regarding foreign policy...

I'm not saying Obama is no different than the neo-cons. I'm saying he isn't going to be a radical departure from foreign policy strategy that existed before the crazies hijacked the White House and Pentagon.

13. Brzezinski is coming around...

and seems to acknowledge that neoconservatism is a failed policy. Destroying al Qaida from the top down is the correct approach along with all the (un)American ties to it. The fascist-leaning intelligence apparatus supporting all of these groups needs to be dismantled.
