Why is Dem Congressman Allen Boyd not supporting Obama?

Are there any other Democrat reps who are not coming out for Obama?

As far as Boyd's reasons for not supporting him --- I can't get an answer from his Tallahassee office that makes any sense. The answers did however makes me suspect that it may be that special brand of Blue Dog values that includes quiet racism.

Please forgive if I've missed some discussions on this -- I've been gone from DU for months because of intense work pressures.

1. I'm gonna find out about this tomorrow. Somebody has to know if
this is true or not--Tallahassee is bright blue and Boyd better get his butt in gear.

2. he's one of the quail-huntin' white country yokels
whom I only voted for this election cycle because of the numbers game in the House. He's just a cog in the wheel. Personally, I hate his guts and think he's the lowest of the low when it comes to latent racism/old Southern cracker mentality.

The Congressman spoke of a meeting he attended that same day with the North Florida organizing team for the Barack Obama presidential campaign. Boyd said how impressed he was with how strongly the Obama campaign had committed organizational resources to North Florida, far more than any previous Democratic presidential nominee. Boyd, who has spent time with Obama and feels he knows him, said Obama is very intelligent, makes good decisions, and has good people on his team who know the issues, know what needs to be done, and know how to get it done.

7. I don't think so
What happened in that small setting, with the published details confined to such a small group -- cannot be viewed as real support. Go to his website and there is zero overt support. Call his Tally office and the same is true there -- you cannot get anyone who works for him to say that he supports Obama.

5. Allen Boyd...hummm...
You mean the Allen Boyd that supported privatizing social security after he was elected in 2004 after his constituents voiced their no-position to privatizing

that voted for Alito (against the filibuster, the only chance we had to block him)

that voted for the UnPatriotAct

that voted for telecommunications immunity

that voted no on requiring lobbyists disclosure on bundled donations

and one of my favs

Voted NO on establishing "network neutrality"

That Allen Boyd? Sounds like on of Karen "Crist is a Democrat" Thurman's fair haired boys.

Boyd is in the House, not the Senate.
