Poll question: MSNBC NEEDS to replace Morning Joe Schmo or balance the show
He isn't even pulling ratings as good as Imus did (UNDER 300,000 TOTAL average) each morning, his show is so firmly in the pocket of his Rethuglican masters it isn't funny, and we need a little Liberal in the morning to offset the idiots on FAUX and enemies in the morning.

What say you

10. I watched this morning because they had Dan Rather as a guest
but Joe and Buchanan were bloviating so badly Rather didn't get more than a few words in. I wish they'd re-think the entire show. Have Dan Rather (or someone that's a "real" newsman as the anchor, Willie whatever his name is could stay on to give the trivia, David Shuster (sic?) could be co-host or whatever.

Joe, Buchanan, Mika could all go to Faux News.

Nobody's forcing anyone to watch it.

5. I remember saying that a few times
And 15 months ago I turned off CNN and since haven't listen to any news during the day except when someone has alerted to turn it on. My problem now is I have no idea as to whats being said pro or con so I'm not so sure that turning the teevee off is the right answer. I now lean toward like what the poster is suggesting. I say lets get this info out there in front of the masses in a real fair and balanced way not the fox way.

My bp won't let me watch the daytime obfuscations anymore, something factual now is a different story either good or bad, mix a little truth in there and I'm all ears day or night. imo

3. If Joe is forced to 'balance' his show
wouldn't we then have to 'balance' Countdown and Maddow?

I understand that both Keith and Rachel sometimes have conservative guests... Pat Buchanon is practically a regular on Maddow... but those shows are hardly 'balanced.'

14. NO, they aren't.
But that's not the point.

Countdown and Rachel Maddow aren't what I would call 'balanced' either. But I like them like that.

I just don't see how we could call upon MSNBC to force Morning Joe to be more balanced without expecting that they would feel the need to make all shows equally balanced.

I realize that Fox News is a conservative propaganda outlet. Fine. Nobody is forcing me to watch Fox.

The fact that we now have Olbermann and Maddow, even Matthews here lately, leaning hard to the left is, IMO a good thing. I don't want MSNBC to force them to be 'balanced,' so I just ignore Morning Joe and accept that Scabover and his cronies lean to the right. Again... nobody forces me to watch it.

18. Oh, I'd love for MSNBC to become our very own Fox News.
I know some would have a problem with that, but I would love it.

At least we wouldn't pretend that our news chanel was 'fair and balanced.' We would be very clear about it.

They could boot Gregory and the whole Joe crew... then weed out any wishy-washy 'centrist' types and put Matthews on notice that he will be looking for a new job as soon as he starts sliding to the right again. Tell Chuck Todd that he will be a desk jockey again if he doesn't shape up...

Yeah, that would be great.

And yes. Joe and Mika will be irrelevant soon. VERY soon.

:hi:

Of course, Mika will immediately shift back to Obama mode. "I, for one, welcome our new Democratic Overlords."

19. I consider the TWO liberal hosts balanced on MSNBC as a whole because
they are the only consistently liberal ones in the WHOLE NBC PACK. The others try to cover up their personal inclinations by making great efforts to present the Bush Cheney administration and McCain campaign in a favorable light.

The pretending that the media is "in the tank" for Obama was disproved months ago when it was found that while the total number of stories about Obama was higher, very many of them were negative stories. Yet the reporters are back to pretending again that that hasn't been studied and disproved.

The Right is trying to freeze Rachel out by not appearing on her show. They're probably hoping that will give MSNBC the right (heh heh) to cancel her show because it is not "balanced." i.e. It doesn't try to make the Bush-Cheney administration or McLiar sound sensible; it proceeds to express the indignation that the 70% of the public who think the country is on the wrong track are feeling.

But hey, we're just 70%, or maybe 80% now, so why wouldn't an "objective" network have ten conservative to moderate hosts for every two liberal ones?

20. I've never seen a conservative on Keith's show
He's simply MSNBC's answer to O'Reilly.

21. You may be right about that...

I can't think of a conservative guest Keith has had on Countdown.

O'Reilly, on the other hand, will bring on a liberal from time to time.

He won't let them get a word in edgewise, and he'll shout them down and cut their mike if they try to actually refute any of his crap, but that's part of the whole Fox News 'fair and balanced' bullshit.

"See. O'Reilly had a liberal on. And Colmes is a liberal!" :eyes:

22. Mr. Olbermann interviewed John Ashcroft on Countdown on Oct. 16, 2006
Mr. Olbermann asked thoughtful questions, and then, amazingly, allowed Ashcroft to respond ompletely and without interruption. Thus, Mr. Olbermann is nowhere close to being an answer to O'Reilly.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15295378/

It was a good back and forth, an intelligent conversation that is usually the goal of having guests on Countdown, as opposed to using guests as punching bags.

4. I don't see the problem...
...don't watch it if it annoys you that much. I'm sure not many right-wingers watch KO and RM as I do everynight.
If anything, we should be supportive of free speech.

6. It's amazing that a REPUKE MURDERER can get his own TV show
while we can't get ANY liberal on...

Rachael and Keith are the only ones on now. Period. And these two don't count because they are only a VERY recent development and they are not on the "main" news shows...

That's pathetic. They could replace him with the Kitchen Magician Slicer & Dicer and have a gain in audience. :eyes:
