Alright who's the FCC expert here?

Trying to find out whether Los Angeles Air America (ClearChannel) is required to air Yes on Prop 8 ads.

Every source I can find refers only to candidates, and apparently state & local candidates are exempt. And this from the National Association of Broadcasters:

"Issue Ads

* Do not qualify for political rates
* Stations are liable for defamation and may censor
* Must have sponsor ID
* No requirement to offer or give time to opponents"

1. No, there's no requirement that a broadcaster air an issue ad

Granted, it's been awhile since I took 1st Amendment law, and it's not my area of practice, but I don't think the law's changed.

2. Just so I understand

a pro-Prop 8 ad is not considered a political ad, even though it is in reference to an upcoming election? :shrug:
