Where do people get off even pretending "City-folk" aren't hard working?
Edited on Tue Oct-21-08 05:40 PM by HEyHEY
You know what I see when I look around mine? People rushing off to appointments, working 16-hours a day, stress-cases, heart-attack cases, burnt out (When was the last time you heard of a farmer suffering from Fatigue?). Oh not hard labour you say? Well, where the fuck do you think these MASSIVE skyscrapers come from? City people BUILD Them, they work their asses off all day on construction sites in freezing cold or hot as hell heat to complete them... there is no season when things are slower than others... it's the same pace year round.

I've lived in small towns and I must say the people there were a hell of a lot more relaxed and less hard-working.

1. They are all on welfare. It is why the republicans still call small towns
the real America. Those people in those small towns do think that NYC people are all on welfare and San Franciso really is 100% gay.

4. It's part of America's culture wars.
Republicans deify small towns at the expense of big cities.

It's part of their election tricks to defer to the "common man" while screwing them over economically -- basically changing the Us vs. Them paradigm from the haves and have-nots to the rural/small towners and big-city people.

If you've ever read "What's the Matter with Kansas?" it explains a lot about this phenomenon.

11. Great book.
I think everyone should read that book at some point, along with "Confessions of an Economic Hitman" by John Perkins.

Both will change your opinion on US politics and warfare. Another good read is "the Soft Cage" although the authors name slips my mind at this point...

9. I live in a small town, a village, and I take just as much offense at Palin and
the other RW ideologues smearing of liberals. I am a liberal in a small town. That is the line we need to draw. Our ideas do not make us unAmerican or unworthy. Let's not turn this into a population center thing. This smear is against our ideas and beliefs.

10. Yeah ,but you see, you're observations are grounded...
IN REALITY. Republicans don't like to talk about things that exist inside that realm.

With the wrong neighbors above or below you, just living can be as stressful as work.

13. Everyone in the cities is welfare cheats. Didn't you get the memo?
Boy, I sure find myself wondering how all these welfare cheats manage to suffer from such severe "Hurry Disease" when all they ever do is collect their gibmint checks and smoke crack and make babies.......you wanna see a bunch of hyperactive, pushy Type A's with "get outta my way" attitudes, I got 'em right here........
