New Ashley Todd picture
Yesterday:

Today:

This is really just so, so sad....

Even The Weekly Standard has denounced her.

"As if the media needed an excuse to a) paint all McCain-Palin support as unhinged and racist, b) accuse the campaign itself of inciting such behavior or, c) ignore similar rage and incitement on the left, now they have the perfect excuse to do all three, thanks to Todd."

I wonder how her parents feel about all of this. I feel bad for her family.

too. I don't think we'd be too surprised if we got to know her family, imo.

Ironically she reminds me of the daughter of a skinhead I lived by. She reminded me of that type right away.

someone yelled 'Kill Him' about McLoser? Or an Obama supporter who faked a racist story?

Get a fucking grip, asshole. Stop blaming the left for the insanity of the right.

15. Here's an idea
After seeing this picture, I think it might be an absolutely brilliant move for Obama to go see and speak with this woman.

IMHO it would be a stunning personal and political move on his part. Kind of like the pope going to see the person who tried to kill him.

It would be check and mate.

20. The parents put this kind of crap into her head, big cities = black men = danger
Just think what would have happened if she hadn't of used a mirror or was decent at writting backwards while looking into a mirror and had reported it from the second the thought hit her little racist mind. The police would have picked up the first large black guy wearing dark pants and black shirt, more then likely one who lived on the fringes of the law, rushed him through court and next stop prison.

24. Well, luckily...
Just think what would have happened if she hadn't of used a mirror or was decent at writting backwards

She wasn't good at doing either of these things and was found out to be the liar that she is. I just wonder when this type of stuff will stop happening. This (white person blaming a black person for a crime that they committed) has happened several times in the last few decades.

When they lose, they will probably blame her, and Joe the Plumber will probably be shocked, the day after the election when Faux and the GOP, cast him aside.

28. Normally, I don't either
I never feel sorry for someone hoisted on their own lying, racist petard.

But she's so young and it's entirely possible that her life will be tarnished by this foolishness forever.

One hand says "rot in hell, fool!" other says "oh that poor girls' family."

30. She's 20 years old. We have people dying in the Middle East far more deserving of my empathy.
People that SHE would have die more often ... by supporting Crash/Puckette. When *I* was about 20, I was looking at the possibility of going immediately into active service due to the Cuban Missile Crisis, as I watched the nuclear submarines go to sea on alert.

NOBODY did this to her. She did it to herself. 100%.

She can take PRIDE in getting a call from the McCain campaign ... and *ALMOST* becoming their mascot.

She's lucky. She's still alive and CAN work to learn the lesson and EARN respect.
Lot's of 20-year-olds don't have that chance. Not anymore.

31. And I subscribe to the philosophy that empathy is not a limited resource
Edited on Fri Oct-24-08 08:19 PM by Number23
I can have tons of it for the 20-year olds in Iraq (many of which I met personally when I was there), for the un- or under-employed 20-year olds in my old neighborhood in SW Atlanta, for the 20-year old struggling moms I see here in South Australia, and still have some for this messed up little girl who did a terrible, stupid thing that she will probably be tarnished with forever.

Simple really.

33. I don't think anyone can feel as sorry for her has she does for herself.
Edited on Fri Oct-24-08 08:57 PM by TahitiNut
That's the problem. Those 20-year-olds in Iraq, SW Atlanta, South Australia, and elsewhere didn't (for the most part) do it to themselves in attempting a race-baiting, bigoted FRAUD. Nonetheless, MANY of them no doubt look for their own part in their plight and try to learn. Not Ashley. Not Ashley's enablers. No ... THEY want to blame others! The MEDIA! That evil lihbrul media! Those Obama supporters! I've worked with abused women ... who sought to take too much responsibility for their plight. It was difficult. I've worked with at-risk teens ... who hated themselves and didn't think they were worth my time and effort. I was able to let them see they were worth it. I've been there and done that and Ashley doesn't need empathy. She needs some boot camp.

I have almost boundless empathy ... and it has carried me when nothing else would. But one thing I've learned is not to throw it into the endless ocean of self-pity and blame-shifting as demonstrated by Ashley. Yes ... she needs help ... but it's the kind of 'help' that comes from the 'tough love' beach, not the empathy reservoir. Until she figures out what's HERS and what's NOT ... she's a black hole for that. A waste.

If anything, she's ridden the "feel sorry for me" pony far too long. It's clearly an old, old game. At this point, empathy is enabling ... and that's NOT a service to her. I won't play.

36. Well, on this point we most definitely agree
I don't think anyone can feel as sorry for her has she does for herself.

I would wager that's probably a very large part of her overall problem.

I've worked with at-risk teens ... who hated themselves and didn't think they were worth my time and effort.

Doesn't this girl strike you as EXACTLY one of these people who are "at risk"?? Her whole schtick was a desperate act for attention, don't you think?? And it could have had absolutely HIDEOUS consequences, particularly among some of the black male residents of her city.

On a different note, I was really glad to see those two sisters who were police officers at the press conference. When the one spoke about Ashley "wasting so much time and resources," I got the distinct impression that there was much, MUCH more she wished she could say about that girl.

35. As it should be. She will forever be known as a morally stunted,
narcisstic wretch without even the brains it takes to exist as such in this world. She has no positive contribution to make to society, and society should treat her as such. Any opportunity she is henceforth given will be stolen from a more worthy person. The jails should be filled with her kind instead of self-medicating impoverished mentally ill people of color.

As for her family, they are likely as bad as her but if not, they should be glad to be shut of her.
