Who would dare to awaken the sleeping giant?
The sleeping giant is the American people. Not just Democrats, but Republicans and Independents and folks of all political stripes.

What was the final tug on the sleeve that brought the giant out of its slumber? Was it the two wars going on at the same time? Was it giving taxcuts to the wealthiest at the same time we were trying to fight two wars? Was it the huge debt of the last 8 years - that our grandchildren's grandchildren will be paying off? Or was it the feather under the nose when the present bunch was torturing people and spying on millions of Americans - innocent Americans? Who would have the nerve to awaken this giant??

George W Bush and the Neo-con Nazis had the nerve. With all the blind bravado they could muster, they said, "Yes, you can cut taxes and fight two wars at the same time. The reality is that we make our own reality", they said.

And they said, "We need to get government off the backs of business and let them create jobs and opportunity. Sometimes government is not the solution - sometimes government is the problem. And they repealed Glass Steagal Act and they deregulated every thing they possibly could, even the banks.

The chickens have finally come home to roost. Even Alan Greenspan admits to his mistakes and disbelief. They have gotten us into one hell of a pickle this time, folks. And everybody knows it. And the giant is angry. There is a price to pay for such disastrous ideas of governance.

And now, the giant has awakened. And he may be a vampire giant? And he may be looking for blood? The only thing that prevents it is a little magical thing called the ballot box.

2. I hope the vampire bleeds the Republic party dry.
If not in 2008, then by 2010. The GOP has outlived its usefulness by about 28 years. The GOP is now an enemy of the Constitution and a danger to the American people. Mercifully, the sleeping giant seems to have finally recognized the danger.

The United States is a LIBERAL Country.

3. It has become a Corrupt Organization ... subject to RICO, imho. (IANAL)
The GOP is 95% corrupt ... and the Democratic Party about 30% corrupt.

5. IANAL = "I am not a lawyer"? :)
I wish we could make RICO charges stick to the GOP. Ultimately, though, it's more likely to go the way of the Federalists and the Whigs. If it does merely fade into oblivion, as those parties did, you and I, TahitiNut, will undoubtedly migrate with the more liberal wing of the Democratic party when it fractures after being the only major political party in the US for 20 years.

Here's hoping. :toast:

The United States is a LIBERAL Country.

7. (Yup.) I think it's inevitable that the GOP will wither way and either ...
... the Democratic Party will split (Blue v. Yellow?) or the Greens will pick up the left. But I'll probably be rose fertilizer by then.

11. "and the Democratic Party about 30% corrupt"
I hate to say it, but it is probably a little higher. Original poster forgets that Glass-Steagal was repealed in 1999. Bill could have vetoed it, but did not. Veto would have been overridden, but sometimes you have to stand on principles. I will still vote democratic, of course- the Supreme Court is too important, and you have at least 2 judges hanging on for dear life. Plus, the democrats at least kiss us before they bend us over :)

8. republicans/GOP have failed and done so much damage to america
and the american people - pick your "favorite disaster of choice", there are too many to too choose from. It's ALL been disaster and demolition!

Good people all over the world will be doing the 'happy dance' once these cretins are gone Remember, republicans are just like the cockroach - once the republicans are out of the limelight, it doesn't mean that they are GONE. They go on doing their dirty work behind the scenes, awaiting a 'better day' to return and run across your kitchen sink! They will continue to sully your life and your surroundings unless they are exterminated/dealt with completely. Think of how Iran-contra and those players came back to sully today's environment  Don't be so forgiving/'understanding' that you don't "give the unrepentant devils their "due".

14. Leadership FAIL.
The state we find ourselves and our nation in today is the inevitable and foreseeable outcome of putting people who do not believe in government in charge of GOVERNMENT.

They made the prophecy and have spent the last 14 years fulfilling it.

It's sad that the majority of people didn't know or did not care until they were personally affected.
