1. Paint 'em black
Edited on Sat Oct-25-08 07:23 AM by SpiralHawk
I want to see 'em blotted out from the sky (and the earth)...for they and their wide-stance hypocritical family-values, war-profiteering republicon cabal have trashed our beloved America, flushing out economy, our environment, our education, and our honor down the CRAPPER of their short-sighted GREED, arrogance, and deranged 'morality.'

Refrain from the Republicon theme song:
"Maybe then Ill fade away and not have to face the facts
Its not easy facin up when your whole world is black."

2. Why should tax payers foot the bill
for these portraits when the sole purpose is to immortalize the person in the painting.

Ideas for future portraits might include gratis work by the artist in exchange for the right to making a claim similar to what they have in England, "Sole purveyor of makeup to the Queen" or perhaps a contest like "Iron Portraitist" with the winners works going on display in the capital.

Ok now where is my coffee......I think I need it!

3. Political Imortality Is Bi-Partisan
When they show the Judiciary committee, there are portraits of all the past committee chairmen on the wall...thousands of dollars of tax payers money spent over the years to glorify the elite...as though this is their historical due.

I agree with you, if a painter wants to donate a work or portrait, that's fine...or have a national commission who determines such things, but the self-commissioning of what is nothing more than ego gratification is a total waste.

Cheers...

4. I have an idea
Why can't they just get on a shuttle and go to Penney's or Kmart and have their picture taken? They could have their choice of backgrounds too. The repugs could use a background of WMDs or something.
The Dems could use a pretty sunrise or a beach scene.

propaganda backgrounds they always put up behind the podium. You know like "Clear Skies" writ over and over and over!

Or we could commission new backgrounds printed with accurate slogans on them like "Asshole" or "Douch nozzle".
