I am getting a wee bit concerned about your election
.
.
.

If OUR right-wing can bamboozle us Canuks,

I fear your right wing can do the same to y'all.

Most polls I see here are only about 10% apart.

That's TOO close for my comfort.

I will NOT be surprised if the Republicans win, steal or stall the election.

All this Palin bashing has given the Republicans free press coverage,

and there is some truth in the claim that bad press is better than NO press.

Do not kid ourselves,

There are those that WILL vote for Palin/McCain (yes -that's the right order) just because of all the bashing, sympathy vote if'n ya wanna call it that

So I remain a VERY Concerned Canuk.

(sigh)

1. Your problem is that you have two left of center parties splitting the vote.
That said I'm very nervous about this election.

2. I look for a sign.
If the polls start to "tighten up" it means the fix is in.

5. But why would they "tighten up?" They're going to need something to happen first. n/t

Or just explained away with racism.

6. This Has Been A Long, Hard Road
Just two years ago, Democrats stood on the abyss of having a fillibuster-proof GOOP Senate and House :shiver:...and many were writing the party's obituary. We've come a long way since...and there's still more to go.

Yes, the repugnicans are doing all they can to rig the election but I feel cautiously optimistic that there are just too many obstacles for them to overcome this time to pull it off. The repugnican "brand" is totally ruined and there has been a fundamental shift in the political dynamic...one that could lead to some very good things.

First things first...an election has to be won...and won convincingly, then to start the hard part...governing and cleaning up the messes so a future progressive agenda can move forward.

Cheers...

9. 10% Is A BIG(!) Number In A Country Of 300 Million
I appreciate your concerns, but keep in mind that 10% in your country is a pretty small plurality.

But, here, it's 10 million voters, and in this election could be 13 million. That's a pretty huge difference.

10. I share your concern, but I feel the difference this time from '04 and '00
is that Obama's campaign looks as if they're ready to fight back.

Fight smarter than Gore did in FL and harder than Kerry did in Ohio.

I'm hoping so, anyway.

11. My issue is that O's barely cracked 50% in the national polls, so it's too close ...
Edited on Sun Oct-26-08 07:15 AM by krkaufman
... for comfort. But *some* comfort can be found in the state polls, applied to the Electoral College. The national poll really isn't relevant, since each state is tabulated separately and EVs are awarded winner-take-all per state.

Try ... http://www.fivethirtyeight.com The EV projection distribution graph is the quickest summary of Nate's analysis.

270 Electoral Votes are needed to win.

12. It is comforting to know our neighbors still like us.
If this goes the wrong way, DU'rs may truly become your neighbors.

I'm not concerned about Obama pulling it off, I'm concerned about Republicans pulling their dirty tricks. This time, people are more alert to their shenanigans. There is no way this country can live under another stolen election. It would be unbearable.

Thanks for your concern.

13. Quayle got bashed a lot too and that didn't backfire on Democrats
in fact, it held Bush's numbers down.

but i'm not going to let your words worry me. you know why?

i've seen your posts and i don't think you really know how our politics work.

your message is de-motivating (a 10 point lead not enough, what's been said about Palin cannot be taken back but now you say it's too much, the election will get stolen, etc.).

just go away.

how about you work on Harper and we'll work on getting Obama elected.

there's no advice you are giving that is in the least bit helpful.

15. Um, so you're asking us to, (ahem) "talk you down?"
A 10% lead counts as a landslide in Presidential politics, especially in terms of the electoral vote map. And Barack is leading even more strikingly on a state-by-state basis. And he has a huge money advantage, enthusiasm advantage, organizational/staffing advantage, crowd advantage (100,000 at Denver today.)

In honor of your Canadianness, let me go bilingual on you: this election is "dans le sac" (in the bag!)

Edited on Sun Oct-26-08 06:43 PM by TheWatcher
Before they are hatched.

The past two elections have been stolen.

And although Obama has a lead that would suggest that it may not be possible to do so this time, with all the criminal activity that has been committed by those in power, you would be foolish to underestimate them for a single second.

We can breathe on 1/20/09/.

18. I'm counting the chickens now. The past two elections have NOT been stolen. 2000 was.
2000 was stolen in Florida in an old-fashioned, ad-hoc, judge by judge and Justice by Justice way.

2004 was NOT STOLEN. Repeat: NOT STOLEN. The polls in the Bush/Kerry race had Bush ahead consistently after Labor Day. Kerry tightened it up in the last month or so (mostly thanks to the debates) but as we went into election day four years ago, Bush led by about 3%. Which is what he won by.

This time, Barack Obama leads in the polls by 6% or more. And he will win the actual vote -- by 6% -- or more likely -- by more.

Perhaps when Obama actually wins, the victory will assist as some kind of lubricant to enable Bevbots and their ilk to begin the long, painful process of pulling their "heads" out of their "asses." It's time to come to closure over the sad fact of the 2004 election - the fact that Bush actually won and Kerry actually lost.

Yes, they were.

And the 2002 Elections were fraudulent as well. It sounds like you need to do some real research and do your own process of finding out what's really going on in this country, instead of relying on personal insults (Bevbot? Please, get new material  ) and your own blind faith in a system that was DESIGNED for fraud.
