42% of registered voters are Democrats and this percentage is most likely going nowhere but up.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Democratic_PartyRepublicans might spend a while out of power and Republicans are now warning us of one party rule.
While we can celebrate for now, we've got to remember that competition is good. I don't want the Republican Party to win elections, but I do want them to keep our Party on their toes. Democrats can repeat the same mistakes that Republicans made.
So to make sure the Republican Party does not become a minor party, which would take away the incentive of our Party from being dynamic and active, Republicans should pay attention to the following hints:
1. You did not lose because you were too moderate, you lost because of your ties to radical and reactionary conservatives. Remember, some of your most conservative legislators, such as Rick Santorum, have been given the boot.
2. Stop denigrating groups like Liberals and Muslims, the only people you should attack are Democrats
3. Embrace inclusiveness. Welcome, and give incentives to, gays, minorities, moderates, and others. Don't malign groups that don't want to enter your Party, but see what you can do to bring them on board.
4. Oust the Bush family from your Party.
5. Don't go about issues that solid majorities support or oppose and then do the opposite. A majority of people support reproductive rights, some form of health care for all, and ending discrimination against gays.
We can all say that we don't the other party to win, but we don't want the political arena to become stagnant either.
