What can I do if my California absentee ballot doesn't show up?
I sent away for it over a week ago--and I've gotten nothing back, even though they guaranteed it would show up in my mailbox way in advance of the election. Granted, a lot of people live in CA. Granted, the Elections officals for Los Angeles County preside over the largest mass of voters in the entire country. And granted, both LA and California will surely go for Barack Obama...

...but damn it, I want to be part of this election! It's too late to register as a New Yorker--what can I do?

1. You can go to your polling place
and vote a provisional ballot

A provisional ballot should be your very last option

4. If it arrives in time, be sure you return it by EXPRESS MAIL overnight.
That puppy has to be RECEIVED by election day. Postmark of election day WILL NOT DO.

7. you are absolutely right, I didn't understand...I would then email and/or ring
up the election office you are to deal with and demand your ballot. If you get nowhere with that contact your elected official who is running for office, I think they would want to move things on your behalf and ultimately their own. Sorry for the misreading of the situation I sure can be daft at times.
