2. This is far from a big deal--people are just on edge.
But what is McCain going to do? Call for an invasion of Syria? That worked really well on the whole Geroge/Russia front.

3. Well, it is disturbing.
I tend to get a bit apprehensive anytime we start bombing the shit out of a new country. Especially in October. Close to an election.

4. If by "taking the bait" you mean...

... chumming the water with the fetid remains of the Republican Party, then you're right.

Fish gotta eat, too!

:hi:

5. I agree.
"FEAR" is McCains last hope. It worked before and they hope it will again, and I am sure it will work, with a minority of uniformed voters and the wacko right wing. My mother in law listens to Rush everyday. She is afraid of Obama because for weeks on end now Rush has been playing the fear card day after day. He has his "zombie" followers all worked up that the end is come if Obama gets elected. Now matter what you say, these people are scared to death. I remember back in 2000 Rush was using the fear of Clinton declaring martial law and staying president to rally his followers to vote. He told them how terrible it was going to be, and I remember my mother in law back then worried sick that Clinton would not leave the white house.

While I do believe there are some who will buy into this fear tactic, I know that the majority of americans are wise to these tricks.

7. "I'm skeeered," is the prevailing theme on the FAUX forum.
You're right, they really have some bizarre scenarios playing out in their little brains.

6. My 88 year old mother saw the report on TV
and said: "Bush is obviously trying to help McCain with this. I hope people aren't that stupid." If she saw right through it, I don't think we need worry.

9. I've been trying to educate my 87 y/o parents for the last few years.
They tend to be pretty much "common sense" smart, but they buy into the fear mongering and religious BS that the politicos want to play. My Mom is a win, she actually reads the articles I send her and they get her to think. My Old Man is an old-fashioned techno-geek, he doesn't get the big-picture and philosophy, he just understands the details and figures and that whatever he does will have no influence.
I keep trying to convince him that this the brave new world and things aren't the same as they used to be. I still have hope, but I don't think the next week or so will be easy for any of us.
