Please give this poll a little DU love

The poll appears about 1/3 of the way down the page in the gray box that looks kinda like an Ipod.

It is asking which of the two candidates for the U.S. House of Representatives you plan to vote for.

The choices are Republican incumbent Mike Rogers, who originally won the seat by pledging to loyally support Bush, and he has lived up to that promise! Now he is running for re-election by promising to 'be the biggest pain in Nancy Pelosi's ass' that he can possibly be. So he is going from a majority party sycophant to a minority party obstructionist.

His opponent is a young Democrat named Joshua Segall. Seemingly a moderate/centrist Democrat who would be a welcome addition to our House majority. Rogers has done everything he can to paint Segall as a radical liberal baby-killing, tax and spend god-hater.

Rogers will win this race, but I would love for this poll to encourage some fence sitters and demoralize the Alabama repub base, which I think these types of polls can do, to a limited degree.

I understand if you'd rather not waste your time... but if you can spare 30 seconds or so, I'd consider it a personal favor.

But it will brobably do nothing but GOTV for the local rednecks.

These things can cut both ways, I suppose.

I just hate to see Segall, who has run a good campaign against a really negative Bush-ass-kissing repug, going down hard.

He will likely lose by 25% or so in the election, but Rogers is an Anniston native, and I hope he, at least, is shocked to see his hometown constituents turning against him.

Democrat Artur Davis defends Mike Rogers

I can't read the article because login is required. What is Mike Rogers being defended for, and why by a Democrat (Artur Davis)?

Rogers voted for the bill, Segall launched an ad criticizing him for his support of the bill, which was hugely unpopular in Alabama.

Davis voted for the bailout package, and, in some sense, felt that the attack on Rogers could be seen as an attack on his own campaign.

Thats about it. But Davis still supports Segall.

Now .. if we could only un-seat Jo Bonner in the Alabama 1st Congressional District. That seat has been in GOP hands since the days of Frank Boykin (Jack Edwards, Sonny Callahan, and Jo Bonner). Time to take it back.

I visited Anniston once, some twenty-odd years ago - it was beautiful.

I've met Mike Rogers.

That's a big part of why I'm so intent on seeing him defeated... if only in an online poll in his hometown newspaper.
