I don't want to live in the same nation that Republicans want
Edited on Sun Nov-02-08 02:18 AM by RainDog
And that bothers me because, of course, we all are here as accidents of birth and they are entitled to their own views.

However, I find their views so repulsive that I cannot and do not see them as part of my American "family." They hate everything I hold dear. They hate people I respect - people I want to have full civil rights.

How can you live with people you hate?

2. I wish THEY could, though. Without their kids, naturally - they don't deserve their parents.

3. Garbage values.
I don't dislike Republicans but I despise and disrespect their values. In practice I find that the Bush years have opened up a huge gap between me and friends and family members who are Republicans. I make an effort to minimize the damage but my heart isn't in it. Sad.

10. They hate us even more than we hate them.
By my estimation.

5. And they get loonier and loonier every four years
They are fascists. They espouse a religious philosophy that calls for humanity to be exterminated. They are sociopaths with zero capacity for empathy. They are seethingly greedy. They hate liberals, gays, foreigners, blacks, hispanics, atheists, immigrants, Europeans and anyone else that isn't a far right wing religious extremist. They are paranoid to the point of being scared of their own shadows. They think science is a religion.

Someone tell me why the Republican party even exists?

6. I'm so glad you said it.
Who would want their candidate to be elected because of false results, as in 2000 and 2004? I mean, I believe in democracy. I want Democrat, Independent and Republican votes to count. It seems that Republicans simply don't believe in this essential component of democracy.

We could go into wiretaps, torture and other areas I find Republicans lacking. The list would be very long. It would better serve to illustrate by saying I no longer have a relationship with what was my best friend of many years. He made disparaging remarks after the 2000 election, all the standard right wing talking points. I was hurt but I overlooked it. Now he buys into all the Obama is a Muslim terrorist bullshit. He is not worthy of my friendship. And THAT is the fucking truth. Fuck him and every single Republican out there. They are truly Un-American.

7. the last 8 years, well, 10, really, have "radicalized" me
I no longer wish to associate with republicans. I am repulsed by their beliefs and, honestly, I would fight them, physically fight them, for control of this nation. That's a long journey for me - from where I used to be - as in live and let live. To me, they're my enemies.

The thing about this, to me, is that I know there are groups in this nation who have faced hatred for generations. I cannot imagine what political engagement has meant for them. Maybe it's a matter of attitude - keeping your eyes on the prize.

8. We must stay and chip away....
at their views. Think of it, what if Obama just quit and left the country because he didn't like the views held by republicans! The republican party is frightening at times but we cannot and should not leave in the middle of a fight. There's lots of work to do. If Obama can accept the mess that is being handed to him and have the foresight to get us through it.... then that alone should be worth staying and fighting for. Think of all those who support him, all those who have volunteered and all of those NEW registered democrats!! That should give you enough fuel to channel the bad feelings you have for the Republicans into the beliefs and values you hold dear.
