Don't forget to check for sample ballots, lists of local elections, etc.

I remember voting in the past and being upset because I didn't know about some local races (Board of whatever) or ballot initiatives (state highway bond law, etc.) that were on the ballot and had to guess, go by party, or skip them - so if you haven't voted yet, be sure to check your county website, or local paper, or League of Women Voters, or some source to find out.
