Has the Fox News Channel gotten alot worse recently?
From the transparently false Obama smears, to the "No Left Wing Bias" slogan, it seems like the Fox News Channel has seriously gone off the deep end lately. It seems like they've lost that subtle dishonesty that allowed them a veneer of legitimacy, and instead become the cable version of right-wing talk radio.

I once heard a former citizen of the Soviet Union describe Pravda as something that was once effective, but slowly turned into a joke as the official truth became ever more widely separated from reality. That description has come to mind again and again for me over the last few weeks.

Anyone else noticed this, or is it pretty much the same as always?

2. Think of Fox News as the conservative answer to The Daily Show.
without the honesty.

3. but of course!
yes, they're much worse. they used to pretend they weren't shills... now they flaunt it..

in fact, I'm tired of them FLAUNTING their conservatism all the time in public, it's offensive to me (LOLOLOLOL)

anyhow, they're reminding me of the WWF/WWE wrestling, that once the truth had to come out for insurance reasons (that they were entertainment and not really competitively honest matches), just became a campy show of goofball antics with super puffed up steroid users, although that one wrestler is hot! but of course, the steroids he takes makes him angry and hostile, certainly, and really who wants to date a wrestler, how miserable a life that must be. anyhow, sorry for going off on the wrestling tangent.

ha...

4. The clip I saw of some blonde bimbo of theirs calling legislators "media whores"
convinced me that they've jumped the crazy shark. (It was particularly ironic given her appearance.) No doubt about it.

14. That was really weird. Was she actually trying to attach that label to a legislator?
No sense of irony or pot calling the kettle black?

Did she not realize that term was invented for people like herself?

20. Yes she was.
Immediately previous to her insult, the conversation was in regard to Dennis Kucinich on camera speaking to Shrub as Shrub was walking up the aisle (in between signing autographs, something I have NEVER ever seen done before) after his SOTU "speech".

28. Umm.. I realize it's the age of Rush Limbaugh and all, but aren't "reporters" supposed to be
"objective", to where using pejoratives like "whore" would be considered indecorous and inappropriate to their purported role?

6. Hell, did you see that SOTU poll they ran?
87% said the president's lame-ass speech was "Excellent"(!)
With 8% saying OK, and just 5% saying Poor.

Come on, that's not even a realistic percentage.

There was a time when Fox would've been alot more sly about it. The numbers wouldn't have been *that* far off from reality.

Maybe it's because reality wasn't as bad for them as it is now... I'm not sure.

31. Im guessing it was because only 8 people bothered to vote
to vote, you had to text message a response to their number. Im guessing most of their viewers didnt want to bother, didnt want to pay the text charges, or couldnt figure out how.

12. It's true, but Pravda is still around today.
I was in the Soviet Union when Pravda was the official news, but other newspapers and innovative (if crude) news sources managed to get the "truth" out.

To make the phrase "Fair and balanced" your company slogan is tantamount to calling your program or newspaper "The Truth" (Pravda).

Peace.

13. It looks like MSNBC, especially through anchors Keith O and Joe S, have decided to take them on.
I think Faux is responding just like the Messianic Chimp they follow does when directly confronted with facts: they are in rabid attack mode. It seems like everytime I watch Keith or Joe, they are slamming Faux or pointing out something asinine they've said. No one on that network is exempt. Not only have they roasted O'Reilly, but they've also pointed out hypocrisy on Fox & Friends (whatever that is), Cavuto's show, and Sean Hannity to name a few.

I've been surprised. I can only surmise that Abrams has decided that real journalism produces higher ratings.

over last year could be a big reason. This is FOX's "surge", their all out attack on the truth. I imagine it will work just as well as the giggling murder monkey's "surge" in Iraq. :eyes:

last week, but you said it better.

They've become more strident either at the behest of the WH, or because their ratings are falling (and they've seen MSNBC's rise with the in-your-face commentary of Keith Olbermann)-- or both. Roger Ailes thinks this strategy will somehow bolster their ratings, and buttress sagging RW spirits. My guess, anyway.
