Voting in Prince WIlliam County, VA
Went to vote around 7:30 this morning. I have NEVER seen lines like these!
It was very powerful. The lines snaked back and forth five times before you got to the registrar tables, then another three snakes til you got to vote.
In 2004, voting was very easy.... no lines!
This reminded me of Disneyworld!
And yes, if you looked at the faces, it was definitely an Obama crowd.
People had their young children and babies with them.
I had the songs "Yes, We Can" bu Will.I.Am and "Waiting on the World to Change"
running through my head.

The McCain supporters you could tell right off, because they were all frowning.
Mostly the crowd was young, and smiling.
A great showing!!

1. Great news! Prince William is KEY to a VA victory, maybe even more so than Fairfax County.
Thanks so much for checking in with such an awesome first hand report.

Yes we can and YES WE WILL turn Virginia blue!

2. Smiles and Frowns -- same thing in suburban Philly
I noticed the same thing here -- long lines, extra machines (SIX instead of two!), smiles and frowns.

--p!

3. Most everybody in a good mood and motivated waiting in line in Fairfax this morning..
I heard the P.W.C. registrar tell everybody to wear comfortable shoes. P.W.C. could be the swing county in a swing state, I'm glad the citizens are taking it seriously there....:kick:

6. Not the same in Haymarket, VA.

This area is, at best 50/50 and the crowd at Alvey Elementary looked red. Thirty or so repub signs and no Obama signs outside. The signs don't matter but it didn't strike me as an Obama crowd.

I was at the end of the 6 am rush, and it took 30 minutes to vote. There was a big 6 am turnout.

A little strange that they were using some handmade voter cards (what they give you after you check in). Seems they had more voters than official cards. These were PW County postcards with Voter Ballot (or some other word) written on the card with a felt tip pen. I tried to imagine a scam that this might be related to but, if they do reconciliation at the end of the day (number of voters checked in vs number of votes cast) this seems not to be a problem.

The line was a lot shorter after I voted, at about 7:30 am, entirely inside the school.
