I just got back home from voting. This may be a good sign....

I thought I would go mid-morning and maybe stand a chance of not having to stand in line for very long. The precint where I vote usually goes red in almost every race, this is Central Florida after all. When I walked inside there was no line at all. I walked right up to the precinct worker who verified my info. I mentioned I was surprised that there was no line. She said all the workers there were surprised too. I really got the impression that since this was a 'red' precinct and that there wasn't much of a turnout that the rethugs have thrown up their hands and have said "what's the use". I tend to think they have already accpted the fact that their party will suffer an overwhelming defeat. I felt damn good as I left the building. On my way out of the parking lot I made eye contact with a guy standing behind his car with a sour look on his face. Sort of like his whole day had gone down the crapper. I noticed he had a bumper sticker for a local rethuglican candidate. As I drove by him I gave him the broadest grin I could come up with. It's been a long eight years. Now it's our turn.

(Needless to say, I voted Dem all the way down the ballot.)

2. Nice to see
My bosses boss decided not to bother voting today, too funny. Won't vote for a dem but can't bring himself to vote for Palin/McCain, it's at least one more off the asshole column in CT.

13. I admire your boss
for at least abstaining. A lot of people just mindlessly go along with the home team regardless of performance.

Not voting (by "likely voters") CAN make a statement if enough people do it.

I'd give your boss points for letting it be known what he decided to do. Not easy.

 to Republicans with some kind of conscience and concern for the country.

3. The line at Baldwin Park (Orlando) is about 1 1/2 hours long
all morning. LOTS of young (<30) people. A good sign.

9. There's nothing I'd like better than to see Florida's 27 EV's go to Obama.

And it looks like it will happen.

:applause: :woohoo: :applause:

4. Republicans are going to be in a seriously pissy mood for
years, now.

The National Republican Trust PAC is running ads here in texas invoking Jeremiah Wright. I hope they have to eat their ads for dinner.

5. That's great!
I had a similar experience except I live in an EXTREMELY red state and waited over two hours to vote. I was very pleasantly surprised that the linemates two in front and two in back were all voting Obama.

8. I live in a very red district in NJ, and I was in and out.. no lines at all...
this could be a good sign. Sometimes I think that my husband and I are the only Democrats in town. I thought there would be a huge wait with the number of McCain/Palin signs outside of every other house. HA!

10. Same here
I went to vote expecting to be in line for hours and there was no line at all. At first I was disappointed with the crappy turn-out but then I remembered that I live in a very red area (SW Missouri) and that it was a good thing if the people in my area weren't showing up at the polls. They've given up.

11. I was voter #161 at 10:30 AM
My voter number has never been that high in the 42 years that I've voted in the same precinct. The parking lot was jammed and the lines were long but manageable. That's a great sign.

15. Voted this morning
I got up early this morning to vote before I had to go to work at 8:30. I have never stood in line for more than 5 minutes because our whole township has about 5,000 residents. Anyway got to the polling place and could barely get in the parking area. It was 15 minutes until the polling place would open and there was already a long line. I was number 80 in line with at least another 25 people behind me. Their were 11 machines available. The most I've seen since I started voting in 1972. It only took 15 minutes to get to a machine. It was touch screen but very user friendly with at least 4 people to help with any questions you had. Hard to tell how many Re-pugs were in line. Our township is at the fringe area of rabid Democrats and Alabama Bush-bots. Here in Northwest Pennsylvania ( FYI their are quite a few freepers who cannot spell Pennsylvania) racism is alive and well. Many are scared to death of having a Black President. Got a type written letter from one of our friends at Church on Sunday that tried to persuade us not to vote for a black man. One of the reasons: He attended an all black church for 20 years. Hello: Ours is an all white church so whats that say about anyone from our church running for public office. One of the other reasons: He's going to take away our guns so we can't accidentally or purposely shoot our teachers, our children, our MIL,spouse, or mistress. Reason number 3: All Hollywood stars endorse him. And the kicker: Every God Fearing person needs to vote for McSame and Gidget!!!
