I just made a very emotional phone call.

I grew up in Lincoln Park, Michigan and I had an exceptional Civics teacher in Junior High during the 50s. My teacher taught us all about elections and voting, including taking us to the gym to "practice" how to vote on a voting machine. (The kind we used to have where you pulled each lever by the candidate of your choice and when you pulled the large lever that opened the curtain, the vote was counted.) Everytime I have voted through the years I think of my special teacher. Today I just returned from voting and I'm so excited about my vote for Obama/Biden that I had to call my teacher to tell him he was in my thoughts today. Mr. J. is in his mid 80s and his mind isn't as sharp as it once was, but his wife told me that I made his day with my phone call. I called him to thank him for teaching me so well about elections and voting. I am a retired teacher and I live in Maine and Florida. Today is very emotional for me because I have so much hope for our country.

We all need to remind our teachers how much they mean to us.. You did a wonderful thing :-)

And who knows, maybe MSU will pull off an upset at Penn State and go to the Rose Bowl!
