Joe the Plumber eyes new career as government watchdog
Source: NY Daily News

Joe the Plumber is plumb perturbed that Ohio officials ran background checks on him after John McCain mentioned him in a presidential debate - and he's out for revenge.

Joe Wurzelbacher thinks Democrats were partly behind the checks so he's thinking about a new career, giving up his wrenches, valves and PVC pipe to keep an eye on politicians, presumably Barack Obama and other Democrats.

Joe told Newsmax.com he could "better serve my fellow man by working with a new watchdog group I'm coming up with." That group can be found at SecureOurDream.com.

He said the group "essentially will hold politicians accountable and make them remember that they actually got into this business to serve their fellow man, and not themselves."

I hope Joe & cronies can find Bush's mythical WMDs. That particular republicon pack of lies has cost us the lives of over 4,000 of our sons and daughters in uniform, and thousands upon thousands of maimed and mentally deranged veterans, not to mention the dead and wounded men, women, and children or Iraq, and the trillions of dollars of wasted tax money.

10. What does it take to find out if a plumber is licensed?
I would think that's a normal query available to citizens as a form of consumer protection.

14. He's not, and it largely doesn't matter
Plumbers I spoke with begrudgingly admitted unless you're the one sweating the pipe at the actual job, licenses aren't an issue -- e.g., if he's acting as a contractor, hiring other plumbers, etc. he doesn't need the plumbing license.

Now the guy with the torch in his hand better have a license, or own the house himself.

16. It matters if he's complaining about "the government" checking up on him ...
... and all that actually happened is someone ran a normal query available to any consumer.

42. My understanding is he worked for one guy
and the "company" was a two man operation - him and the guy he worked for. So, I highly doubt that they were doing large or commercial jobs - or that they were sub-contracting. More likely they were the ones being sub-contracted. Joe identifies himself as a "plumber" - not a "plumbers helper". He's not a plumber, and it's not legal for him to perform his self proclaimed profession in his own town.

He keeps saying he doesn't need a license because he works for someone else. That's not true - if you want to practice the trade of plumbing in Toledo Ohio you MUST be licensed.

And more to the point - he claims he's been a plumber for what? Fifteen years? Why the hell would he NOT get a license?

I wouldn't let Joe near my damn pipes. Especially my gas pipes!

12. Never give money to this man...
A few weeks ago, he was planning to invest in a Plumbing Company worth about $250,000.00. Just a few weeks later, he's talking about giving up plumbing altogether and becoming a right wing agitator. In the time between, he hired a publicist and negotiated a deal to be a country music singer.

If he seriously had plans to buy a business for $250,000.00 wouldn't he already have a lot of planning and investment at stake. How can he just turn on a dime and walk away from his plan?

The moral of the story is, "Don't lend any money to Joe the Plumber. Don't invest your money in Joe the Plumber. He's not a serious businessman. His plans are just pie in the sky, and they'll evaporate when something new comes along."

15. I'm curious: Where's the money for this venture going to come from? . . .
Perhaps Joe's first effort will be watching his government explore where the seed money for his little Watchmen group comes from and what agenda Joe seeks to serve.

Quis custodiet ipsos custodes? wrote Juvenal. "Who watches the watchmen? Who guards the guards?"

Will he make over $250,000 a year working with this new group? Is he still in danger of getting a tax cut?
Joe, you seem to be forgetting that people need someone to clear their drains.

Joe needs to listen to the words of the prophet, John Lennon.

As soon as you're born they make you feel small
By giving you no time instead of it all
Till the pain is so big you feel nothing at all
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be

They hurt you at home and they hit you at school
They hate you if you're clever and they despise a fool
Till you're so ------- crazy you can't follow their rules
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be

When they've tortured and scared you for twenty odd years
Then they expect you to pick a career
When you can't really function you're so full of fear
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be

Keep you doped with religion and sex and TV
And you think you're so clever and classless and free
But you're still fucking peasants as far as I can see
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be

There's room at the top they are telling you still
But first you must learn how to smile as you kill
If you want to be like the folks on the hill
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be

If you want to be a hero well just follow me
If you want to be a hero well just follow me

How many careers does this guy want? So far he wants to be a small business owner, an author (or at least a fake one), a country music singer, a congressman, and now this? As Sarah would say, "there you go again, Joe." Maybe he should seek some sort of occupational therapy. Take that test that tells you what you should be when you grow up. Say it ain't so, Joe - go back to Ohio and your quick "magic duct tape" plumbing tricks.

Although, there may be an opening for you, Joe. I read a month or so ago that the original Mr. Clean had passed away, even though they had been using an animated stunt double for many years. Perhaps you could pass yourself off as his evil twin "Mr. Slime" and see if they have a position for you.

Go home, Joe. Go home and back into obscurity. FOX is cutting back on staff so don't count on the "Joe the Plumber & Hannity Show" coming to fruition.

Maybe I used too many big words for poor Joe.

Either:

1) Either he is serious, and I applaud him for his efforts to help the country, though I suspect he'll fail and waste his own time and money, or...

2) This is a partisan venture in which he expects to be backed by the Rs, in which case I spit on his efforts, though I suspect he'll fail and waste Republican time and money.

In other words, this guy has nowhere to go but down the drain.
