The "Heckuvajob Brownie" Belt
Below is a map from the NY Times showing the shift in vote by county between the 2004 presidential election and 2008.



Areas that went towards the Republicans (in red) are clearly defined geographically: mostly in Applalachia, but look along the Gulf Coast. Big shift to Republicans along the Louisiana coast.


Mission Accomplished indeed.

2. I can only apologize for Tennessee...
The economic pinch is happening here, but not yet to the extent felt by the rest of the country. Our cost of living and taxes are so low that many people can still keep their heads in the sand. Not to mention, racism is still alive and well here. <sigh>
