No Rep or Senator will ever lose an election because of a vote on party leadership

well, unless s/he voted to organize with the opposing party. And that's the short lesson on why no outside force will ever be successful pressuring a rep or senator to vote out the party's leaders. Who leads the party within Congress just isn't a pressing concern for the vast majority of voters.
