The telling tale of our new Vice President
Edited on Fri Nov-07-08 09:59 PM by justaregularperson
I have been reading the posts concerned about Obama's choice of Chief of staff. I don't like the smell of it much either, being that the DLC has been extremely pivital in keeping the Democrats from being true to their core values.

However, all I need to think about is Mr. Obama's choice of Vice President to calm and assure me. That choice is telling of Obama's core values and what is really important. If he were really wanting to be a "move to the right" centrist he would have found less of a progressive vice presidential candidate. Joe Biden is a full on populist. A pragmatic populist, but he is all about the common man.

Joe Biden is also not one to sit out. He will be as active as Gore, if not more active, and involved in giving his input and advice. We have a man as our future president who is a brilliant and wise man, and second in command we have a man of the people. That can give us some confidence that there will be a lot of progressive and wise council occurring in Washington come January.

3. Both Obama and Biden are men of the people.
And smart. Do you think Obama would have picked a non-smart guy? No way. Obama is far to smart to do that. But I do agree with your post. Thank you.

5. Welcome aboard!
This is just a perfect team IMO. Apart from balancing each other's temperament, style and strong points, it's obvious that they genuinely like each other. I never saw any desperation on Obama's part for choosing someone older and with more experience. I felt that Joe might have risen as high as he was going to in the Senate and could kind of lay back, but this campaign just totally reinvigorated him.
