In honor of Likudnik Rahm Immanuel getting chief of staff job, throw a few bucks J Street's way
J Street is a progressive Jewish organization that serves as a counter-balance to AIPAC, which demands American politicians support Israel's most aggressive and destructive actions toward their Arab neighbors without even asking the questions and giving the advice we would any other close ally.

Part of repairing the damage Bush has done in the Middle East is to signal to the people there that we see them as more than squatters on oil that is rightfully ours, and land that is rightfully Israel's.

2. There is no oil in Israel. That's why the Jews were allowed to keep that part.
What happened to the largest part of "Palestine"? Or are you pretending the Arabs got nothing in the deal? What happened to the lion's share of "Palestine" that was partitioned for the Arabs? Whatever became of that landmass? Did it disappear? The Jews got a postage stamp worth of the total territory. Where's the rest of it? Any Arabs "squatting" on it?

3. if you lived some place for generations, would you feel better about being chased out of your house
because some of your cousins weren't chased out of theirs?

If the Chinese decided to take over Manhattan, would New Yorkers have to keep their mouths shut because they could move to Jersey or Nebraska?

The ugly fact is, Israel came into existence largely through ethnic cleansing of the native Palestinians, and the same process is going on in the occupied territories today.

We need to change our policy so that we treat Israel like any other close ally, who is helpful to us in some ways, but profoundly destabilizing in others.

4. *sigh* another day another mindless and pernicious little lie
Emanuel is not a likudnik. And your post is completely off target. There is no signal whatsoever to the ME in the Rahm appt as CoS.

6. Shit, you scared me for a second there.
From the subject line I thought you were talking about throwing a few bucks at John Street, the corrupt former mayor of Philadelphia!
