Stephen Baldwin: Today's teens need the Gospel
from the Fundie-fabulous OneNewsNow, the American Family Association's news service for Dominionist nuts:

Today's teens 'furthest away from God'
Allie Martin - OneNewsNow - 11/10/2008 7:30:00 AM

Christian actor and author Stephen Baldwin says the church in America must do more to instill a biblical worldview in teenagers.

In last week's presidential election, a critical portion of president-elect Barack Obama's support came from young people, many of whom claimed to be evangelical Christians. Stephen Baldwin says many youth today are not connected to, or concerned about, issues that have traditionally impacted evangelicals.

"This up-and-coming generation -- the kids that are 9, 10, and 11, right up until about 19 years old right now -- they are the furthest away from God ever in our country's history," he contends. "We have got to start to attack that culture with the gospel."

To reach that demographic, Baldwin is co-host of a weekly Internet-based radio program. He can be heard with Kevin McCullough every Saturday night on BMXRadioNow.com.

20. Maybe he's worked out that no other country gives so much automatic respect to a self-proclaimed
"Christian actor" than the USA does. In all other countries that are majority Christian, the resposne to him would be 'so what?' or 'who are you?' (to which his only reply could be 'Alec Baldwin's brother'). Actually, that may be slightly unfair - I see he was in "The Usual Suspects", 13 years ago. It's just that there were about 4 more memorable performance in that than his.

4. No Steve. They need to not fuck up like you did.
I love it when a fundie fuck up acts like everyone else at the party they went to who just had fun and didn't overdo it (like they did) needs to find Jebus.

10. Bullshit -
kids of 9-19 of MY generation of middle-boomers proudly hold the record for being the furthest from god in the last century and well will retire undefeated. But quite frankly, the mid-1700s were far less christian than today, in America. America was settled in equal parts by religious nut cases who didn't want any OTHER church telling them what to do, and people who just plain didn't want ANY church telling them what to do.

but real history doesn't matter to fundigelicals.

Baldwin's problem is just that he is getting old, and doesn't understand today's kids. It happens to every generation, that the 'current' crop of kids is the worst ever in history.

12. Why can't he just shut up
and let these kids have a chance to grow up as decent people rather than hate-mongers like he has become?

15. Interpretation: Kids need more brainwashing at an earlier age
and more effective brainwashing! I know from experience.

Honestly, why can't children just be allowed to explore any and all religions, and no religion, and then make up their mind as adults about what they'll believe? Can you imagine what that would be like?!

19. Using the "gospel" as a weapon
"We have got to start to attack that culture with the gospel."

Another indicator of so-called Christianity moving further and further away from Jesus' teachings. They can't even pretty up their rhetoric.

Of course, for two thousand years, some people have not had an easy time of separating the concepts of "Attack!" and "Christianity".

21. Attack indeed
"Serve one another in love." "Love keeps no record of wrongs." "If someone asks you for your coat, give him your shirt as well." "Lend, expecting nothing in return."

Or is Baldwin proposing a different kind of attack?

22. I sent the following emails to Baldwin and David Letterman.
Email to Steven Baldwin:

Mr. Baldwin,
I am a Christian. Jesus Christ is my personal savior.
You vowed that you would leave the country if Obama won the election.
When are you leaving? I haven’t read any news or seen any TV reports saying you have left.
Christians don’t tell lies. If you do not leave the country, then you are a liar and therefore cannot be a Christian.
Are you making the choice any true Christian would make by standing by your word?
You made this promise in the sight of God. Because you are lying your name will not be in The Book of Life.
Doesn't’t that trouble you? It would trouble a real Christian. It would not trouble someone that only speaks the name of Jesus
Christ and says they love him just to make money.
I hope you demonstrate your faith my keeping your word and leave the country.
I will pray you do the right thing by sacrificing to the Lord and leave the country as soon as possible.

Email to Late Show with David Letterman:

Dear Dave,

Steven Baldwin was a guest on your show on 10/30/08
Baldwin vowed that he would leave the country if Obama won the election.
When is he leaving? I haven’t read any news or seen any TV reports saying he has left.
Is there any way the Late Show could follow up to find out if he has left yet?
Maybe a count down clock or update to when Baldwin has left the country.
This would be a service to the country. The integrity of a person’s word actually means something.
We’ve had a lack of integrity in this country for so many years now.
Baldwin claims to be moral and truthful. Please call his bluff.
