House Conservatives Fund Welcomes Fifteen Endorsed Candidates to Congress
Three Challengers, Twelve Open Seat Candidates Will Help Make Conservatives an Even Greater Majority of Republican Conference
WASHINGTON, DC The House Conservatives Fund (HCF) celebrated twelve victories in open seats and three challengers who defeated incumbent Democrats in races across the country on Election Night. In each race, a solid conservative candidate emerged as the winner despite the larger anti-Republican trend. With these wins, conservatives will maintain their real numbers within the Republican conference and will significantly increase their proportionate presence in the 111th Congress.
Winning their respective races were: Tom Rooney (FL-16, defeating incumbent Tim Mahoney) Dr. Bill Cassidy (LA-6, reclaiming the seat won by Don Cazayoux earlier this year) Pete Olson (TX-22, unseating Nick Lampson)
Tom McClintock (CA-4) Duncan Hunter (CA-52) Mike Coffman (CO-6) Bill Posey (FL-15)
Aaron Schock (IL-18) Brett Guthrie (KY-2) Erik Paulsen (MN-3) Gregg Harper (MS-3)
Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-9) Steve Austria (OH-7) Glenn Thompson (PA-5) Cynthia Lummis (WY-AL) The variation among these districts shows that this is not simply a case of conservatives winning in the most conservative districts; several were previously held by moderate, Main Street-type Republicans. These results reflect the belief among many voters that principled, conservative Republicans do not represent politics as usual. Instead, they are seen as the best hope to cut government spending, limit federal bureaucracy, and protect the values and rights of Americans.
In what was certainly a difficult year for Republicans, we at the House Conservatives Fund are proud to have helped so many great conservatives win last night, said Congressman Tom Feeney, Honorary Chairman of the Fund. Our purpose is simple, but it is vitally important: to identify and support candidates who will strengthen the ranks of conservatives within the Republican conference. Thanks to our generous supporters all over the country, Im happy to say we were able to have a significant impact this year.
Feeney went on to say, The endorsement of the House Conservatives Fund has become the mark of true conservatism in House races across the country, and I am pleased to see so many incoming Members who have earned that distinction."
The House Conservatives Fund is a non-connected federal PAC which supports Republican candidates and incumbents who demonstrate a commitment to economic and socially conservative issues. HCF advocates fiscal responsibility, limited government intrusion into the private sector, strong defense, and traditional family values.
