Friends in High Places
11.10.08 -- 3:54PM
By Josh Marshall

A high-level senate Democratic source tells me former President Clinton is making calls on Sen. Lieberman's behalf.

I can also confirm, on the same basis, what Huffington Post has already reported, that President-elect Obama is signaling to Senate leadership and other party officials that he wants Sen. Lieberman to be in the Democratic caucus in the 111th Congress.

That doesn't mean he doesn't want him punished in some way. I have the sense -- though this is more speculation on my part -- that he's agnostic on that question. But he wants him in the caucus -- which would seem to give Lieberman some real leverage.

I'll have more on the Lieberman story soon.

2. WTF?!
No wonder we get tagged with the "wimpy" label. We can't even handle a traitorous piece of shit like Lieberman. Why are they so afraid to punish him?

12. Why would Clinton be calling Lieberman? Any thoughts? He'd
have no reason to do so on Obama's behalf, so why's he involving himself?

11. Obama obviously thinks it's important for his agenda.
I don't agree, but seeing that Lieberman was campaigning against him and Barack's OK with it, who am I to be angry about it? I suspect that Joe will be on his best behavior and we can expect to see him supporting the legislative agenda. If he doesn't, he can be kicked out later. Very odd, though.

22. I guess this will be the opposite of "No good deed goes unpunished"
For LIEberman, "No bad behavior goes unrewarded."

I hope they make him an offer of a lesser position, and let the idiot decide whether he wants it or wants to be out on his butt.
There is NO WAY he should be the chairman of any committee!!!!

33. I would rather buy a couple of Republican Senators
with multi-million dollar projects for their home states than let Lieberman stay on as committee chair. They would at least stay bought and that is a hell of a lot more than you can say for Lieberman.
