Question: Who was the Irish woman that Obama cut from his campaign?
And is he going to make her a part of his administration? She seemed very talented.

2. She teaches at Harvard
Wrote an excellent book: A Problem from Hell, America and the Age of Genocide.

I don't know - anyone who read the book will tell you . . . all she did was tell the truth about Hillary Clinton and how she would react in a genocide situation (ie Hillary had a huge influence on Bill's reaction to Rwanda/Bosnia).

Look - I love Obama. But I wouldn't mind if she got up on the National Stage and started screaming at the top of her lungs, "Don't forget Darfur".

In the same not I sent to Senator's Menendez and Lautenberg re: blocking Lieberman in the Senate . . . I reminded them to not forget the Furs. Eh? I'm blind on that issue. www.savedarfur.org

6. Page 302
"According to journalist Elizabeth Drew, Hillary Clinton gave her husband a copy of Robert Kaplan's Balkan Ghosts, a deftly written travel book that protrays people in they Balkans as if they were destined to hate and kill." Samantha Power, A Problem From Hell, America and the Age of Genocide

Additional Reading:

To Stand Against Agression: Milosevic, The Bosnian Republic and the Conscience of the West, report prepared for the Senate Committee on Fireign Relations, 103rd Congress, 1st Session, 1993, Committee Print 103-33, page 3. - Writer? JOE BIDEN.

Obama picked the right running mate. I'm sorry - but it's true. She might not BE a monster - but she behaved like one at ONE moment when we could have made a difference for . . . Oh horrors of horrors! Muslims! Please - I have the vapors!

Something tripped in my mind as a child - I don't know if it was from being an American in Weisbaden (then WEST) Germany . . . But I see no difference between the Furs and the Armenians. The Kurds and the Jews that died in the Holocaust.

Evil is evil. She gave a 'reason' for the Evil and said it was hopeless. And for that - for one moment in time - she behaved like a monster. Just as my FDR did when he had a ship full of people show up on our shores . . .

Is this the one? Is the Obama the guy that looks Evil in the eye - the lack of humanity - and says, "you cannot do this and I will force you to NOT do this." Time will tell.

8. So she's a monster because some reporter told Samantha Powers that
Clinton gave Bill a book?

I've heard her speak before, and don't think much of her. She is random and scattered, and if she really believes that Bill's policy was shaped by his spouse giving him a book, she's simplistic and shallow. Keep her away from the White House, she is exactly the type of person who gets us into wars.

And I don't even understand what she was saying about vapors and Muslims. Maybe it made sense in the book, but not the way you've quoted it.

Oh - my bad.

This is America. Muslims don't count. Even to the left.

ETA: My bad. They're Africans. Now they REALLY don't count. Another person I've had the pleasure of meeting? Romeo Dallaire. He called the Western Democracies out. If the Democratic Party doesn't see human rights as an issue - then maybe it's not for me. So your good buddies in GITMO? Why are they more valuable than blacks in Rwanda? In Sudan? Muslims in Bosnia? Cambodians? Armenians. KURDS in IRAQ? Why are they more valuable to our party then those who are victims TODAY?

Ahh - I voted/campaigned for Clinton in 2000 and voted Bill in 1996.

Oh - that's okay - jobycom.

It's only Black people in Sudan. They don't count. Carry on with your American bullshit Dream.

11. Dallaire's fantastic
Saw him speak this spring when I was at school in Ontario. The guy's considerably more ... intense than I would have expected, but in a good way, and after the first few standard self-promotion questions students ask at those sorts of things he took - and answered - some fairly tough ones. I was really impressed.

I'm jealous if you actually got to talk to the guy in person though. ;)

7. Ditto
She's a bright intelligent woman and I've had the pleasure of meeting her through my efforts/volunteerism/activism to end the genocide in Sudan.

12. "[Power] hinted that she could be part of that hypothetical cabinet"
"Because of the kind of campaign that Senator Obama has run," Power said, "it seemed appropriate for someone of my Irish temper to step aside, at least for a while. We will see what happens there."

13. Samantha Power, a great mind.
She's one of the reasons I decided to support Obama. I have two books she has written. She knows the world and its problems.

16. I haven't seen my friend for a while
It was right after the choice of words incident that we discussed Samantha Powers.

My friend and his family were devestated because they loved and respected her for her genius and her character.
